Skara

The Exiled Court is a new arrival in the Cinder Marsh. Not long ago, these dragons came from the Molten Furnace, a powerful and prosperous region of the Molten Scar known for its vast riches in gold and other precious metal. It was ruled an assembly of princely dragons who used their phenomenal wealth to gain influence and power. Yet, these riches attracted them enemies. The Molten Furnace was attacked by the Lightning Flight and its riches plundered. Sensing weakness, other dragons from the Ashfall Waste attacked their fortress and sent the princes of the court in exile. The Exile Court sought refuge in the Cinder Marsh, hoping to gain the support of the Brimstone Alchemist to arm and armor themselves and failling that, simply steal them from them. With those weapons and armors, the Exiled Court is planning on exacting their revenge and return to their stolen land.

Skara is a blue blooded dragon. She was born in a life of privilege as part of the most prestigious and powerful family of dragons within the Molten Furnace. Born with rare glowing eyes, symbol of divine favor, and brilliant wings, she was the ideal princess. Skara was raised in privilege for a life in the court of the Molten Furnace and she proved to excel during her education. Her manners were imperious, but still courtly. She had a very sharp witt and tongue that she knew how to use during diplomatic meetings, but also in the halls of her palace-like lair where her family received other local noble families. She also had a very fine eye for art and metalwork. The Molten Furnace was especially well known for its production of jewelry made of gold and precious stones and Skara had a fine appreciation of it, capable of predicting what could become the new trend in fashion while also innovating in the domain to produce ever more beautiful jewelry. As a future queen she would be perfect.

And so it came that Skara became the Queen of the Molten Furnace after her parents passed and ascended to serve the Flamecaller. The first year of her reign was a time of splendid abundance. The Molten Furnace rised in power and prestige in the Ashfall Waste and beyond. Her court received an ever growing number of embassadors carrying gifts from far and wide. This time of plenty was not to last for with their growing riches so came a growing number of enemies. Despite all her talents, Skara was no warrior, neither a great general and her enemies soon discovered this critical weakness for a sovereign. A rival clan of the Lightning Flight rallied the various enemies of the Molten Furnace, those who were robbed of their riches by its inhabitant in the past or who were treated unfairly, malcontent or simply greedy marauders and attacked it in force. Skara failed to lead her forces to victory and the Molten Furnace, one of the jewel of the Ashfall Waste, was ruined. It's riches pillaged and its population thrown into exile, dead or captured.

Skara survived the war and now leads the remnants of her court and a portion of her population into exile. They found refuge in the Cinder Marsh, an isolated area of the edge of Emberglow Heart and of the Molten Scar. There she knew lived the Brimstone Alchemist, brilliant smiths from who she believed her people could buy with the remnents of their vast riches weapons and armors to reclaim their land and take their revenge. The leader of the Brimstone Alchemist, Teiru, was unwilling to sell all the weapons and armors she requested for as she feared she would simply bring war to the Cinder Marsh with it. Neutrality in much of the intestine feud of the Ashfall Waste had allowed the Cinder Marsh to exist and the old and wise Bogsneak was reluctent to risk it for gold and precious stones. While they provided some as well as medecine for their weak and injured, they refused to arm an entire army no matter the price.

Exile and war had harden Skara and in front of such a refusal, she resorted to thievery, commanding members of her clan to steal what they could not buy whenever possible. In doing so, the once peaceful Cinder Marsh seems to have fallen to conflict. While little blood as been shed so far, the Brimstone Alchemists and the Exile Court are certainly in conflict. The former dragged the notorious Blood Pack into the Cinder Marsh to help protect their treasures, while the Ash Guard itself, wonder if they should change their position from frontier guards to police the conflict between the two groups.
