Biography

I was born in the land of shining light, within the sacred grounds of the Sunbeam Ruins. My parents watched over me and my siblings with great care, keeping us safe as we explored the world around us. I was different from the rest of the hatchlings; my brothers were rough and wild, eager to learn how to fight and hunt. My sisters were often foolish, nearly getting themselves hurt on multiple occasions due to poor judgement. I was more gentle than my brothers and more sensible than my sisters. It kept me out of trouble, but sometimes made me feel out of place within my family.

Still, my life was a happy one. My siblings and I would often play tag around the pillars within the ruins. My brothers took the head-on approach, trying to tackle me and bring me to the ground. My sisters were more delicate, running all over the place in an attempt to brush up against someone and tag them. I still remember the fun games we played together, and I often wish I could turn back time. Back before I knew the harsh truth of our survival. It was only a matter of time until the perfect world I thought we lived in was shattered.

As I grew older I became more withdrawn, preferring to study plants and wildlife instead of the more physical skills of my siblings. They would bring back dead animals to our lair, and I realized with horror that we had been eating living beings this entire time. I felt sorry for the poor creatures. What had they done to deserve this? They had the same right to live as we did. Dragons can survive off of plants, so I knew that their deaths were pointless. Although my family would doubtless refuse to follow in my footsteps, I promised myself I would never consume another living creature. The animals, the fish, and the insects would have nothing to fear from me. I would obtain my nourishment from plants, and plants only.

I began to spend the majority of my time in the woods. From their concerned expressions, I could tell that my parents were worried about all the time I spent alone. Although I tried to reassure them, I continued to retreat into the forest whenever possible. I learned the qualities of all the plant life I could find – what was edible, what was poisonous, and what could be used for healing. In time, the creatures of the woods became used to my constant presence. As I never tried to harm them, they eventually became my companions. They would eat and play beside me, becoming a sort of second family.

I felt more and more out of place in my family. I was disgusted whenever I had to watch them eat meat, and I knew I was a source of constant worry for them. Thus, I decided to leave my home and search for a new life. Without a word of goodbye, I left the place of my birth and traveled towards the land of shadows. Along the way I discovered more varieties of plant life, adding it to my stores of knowledge for later use. Despite it being the opposite of what I was accustomed to, I found the darkness of the Tangled Wood surprisingly pleasant. Still, I did not intend to remain there permanently. However, my discovery of a few interesting individuals changed my mind.

Deep in the heart of shadow territory, I found a clan of mysterious dragons. Inside many of them, I could sense a disturbing darkness. Ares, Anaideia, Hysminai...so many of them had terrible pasts that twisted their present existence. I felt great sorrow for their plight, and although I knew it would be a long and difficult process, I vowed that I would find a way to heal them. After some time observing them I revealed myself. After seeing my skills in the art of healing, Ares gave me a place of my own within the clan. I never mention my true intentions to them, but I continue searching for any way to help them. I will complete this task. They deserve the happiness that has been denied them, and I shall be the one to deliver it.
