Biography
In her younger days, Mystic felt compelled to travel the deepest trenches of the Shifting Expanse in search of anything that could reinvigorate her simple life. It was during her exploration that she became dehydrated and passed out, only to reawaken in the healing cots of a beautiful lightning monastery full of dragons and beastclan. While they shunned most of the electrical machinery in neighboring areas, they still respected the raw power that lightning elements could provide, and carefully taught willing dragons how to harness its power for good. She stayed to train as a sign of gratitude and respect for their caring ways, and while she felt at home, something was missing. It was here, during her lightning studies, that she reunited with her brother Templar. They trained together, were eventually blessed with new names from the head clerics, and they've stayed side by side ever since.
Today, however, on their daily check around the perimeter, another guard has alerted them to a side cavern that may very well lead into the place they protect. The three move in to inspect the cavern, checking scents for familiarity.
Templar is the first to speak, using his lightning to highlight claw marks and fur strewn about the cave, "This is definitely the work of an individual beast. The work is shoddy at best, and they obviously have no idea where the caverns lead. They're digging straight into the mountain as a means of shelter." Mystic nods her furry muzzle silently, as Templar continues, "Perhaps they mean no harm. We could simply leave a mark of danger to dissuade them from continuing these ventures and check back tomorrow."
Rune Guard's fur bristles, and he growls, "What if they've left to get more digging power? More brutes to do the dirty work? They sneaked past our guards once, and I won't have Seyza on my backside for this one! We should take care of it once and for all by setting a trap to take them out for good! There's plenty of loose rubble we could use to drop from the ceiling, with just a bit of magic-"
"We will not be burying anyone alive, Rune Guard!" Mystic waves a static-shocked claw in his direction, giving him a light zap. "There is no proof of ill-intent here, let alone multiple beasts being present. We will set a rune of danger as dissuasion, and a rune of sight, so I may keep an eye out. That way, we won't lose any guards to a single false alarm. Seyza would really chew your rump for that!"
Rune Guard feels his ears grow warm at the thought, his armor hiding his expression. He backs down as the two mages work together, scratching glowing runes into the walls and floor, with Rune Guard standing watch at the entrance.
How was he supposed to force his way into the mines to release the beast, with these two always on high alert?

The three earthy-looking tundras protect the Ash-haven Valley dragons from an unspeakable evil, each with their own intentions.
The quiet lady Mystic Paladin keeps a constant eye on the seals closing off the mysterious mine's huge doors, while Runic Templar wards off the prying eyes of magical entities and Rune Guard provides more brute force against stubborn dragons scouting the area.~~~~~~ |
