Castiel is an angel who accidentally gained a rebellious streak after hanging out around humans too much. One could say he sauntered vaguely downwards...

He considers it his job to protect the Winchesters, a task which is borderline impossible due to the frequency with which the Winchesters get themselves into trouble, killed, resurrected, and right back into the frying pan again. He also might have fallen in love with Dean, but neither of them are great at talking about it. One day, Sam's gonna lock them both in a closet until they sort it out.
