Biography

ONWARDS.

Prism knows nothing of her home clan in Windswept Plateau. In fact, she doesn’t know anything about the Windswept Plateau at all. As a hatchling, she was sold to an bogsneak in the Ashfall Waste, where she was forced to fight in cage matches against other dragons. For several long years, all she knew was brutal, savage fighting. If she wanted to eat, she had to fight. If she wanted to sleep, she had to fight. The only comfort she had was her strength and power.
Until she found a cumulus seal.
She was out by the Emberglow Hearth, right between the borders of the Waste and the Sea of a Thousand Currents. She saw a creature who was weak and defenseless, just like she had been when that bogsneak had bought her all those years ago. A wave of sympathy crashed over her as she stared at the creature, who was dying in the immense heat of the Waste. She gently picked up the fluffy seal in her great maw and calmly walked over to the Sea, where she deposited it into the friendly waters.
However, as she turned away, she was met with a soft cooing sound. Despite the fear that resides inside her, knowing what would happen if she was late to her next match, she turned around…
and saw a fae watching her.
She glared at the fae. She had trouble trusting other dragons. There were always ulterior motives with them, and she didn’t recognize this one.
In return, the fae greeted her with a look of soft sorrow.
“Imp!” The familiar call of her bogsneak master’s rough voice caused her to winge like a tiny infant. “Just what in Blazes are you doing? I don’t pay you to sit around all day!”
They didn’t pay her at all.
Prism nodded apologetically, as she was taught to do.
The bogsneak noticed the fae and growled. “Is this what was distracting you? A little pest?”
Prism shook her head, hoping to spare the little dragon.
Without another word, the bogsneak took one large step towards the fae and raised his claw, ready to strike -
So Prism struck him.
The force of her claw knocked the bogsneak out. For a brief moment, Prism actually felt good about herself. She felt free.
“Thank you.” The little fae muttered. “What’s your name?”
Prism looked at her. “Don’t have one.” Her throat was dry, and the words didn’t come easily. She wasn’t normally allowed to speak. “They call me Imp.”
“You need a name.” The miniscule dragon responded. “You should be called Prism.”
Prism nodded. It sounded like a name to her.
Then, the fae flew up to her and deposited the cumulus seal in her great paw.
“To remember me by.” She explained. “To remember this day by.”
Then she disappeared.

Remember it she did. She left the Ashfall Wastes that day and began traveling Sornieth. She kept the seal with her at all times, fondly calling it “Mister”, as she wasn’t very good with names.
The event with the fae had stuck with her, and she was determined to recreate that feeling she had gotten when she had saved her. It was something she wasn’t used to; something positive. It was a welcome change to her normal maudlin outlook on life.
But now that she didn’t have near constant cage battles to occupy her time, she was empty. When you spend pretty much the entirety of your life focused on one thing, you become empty without that one thing to concentrate on.
And so she dedicated herself to protecting others. It became her reason to exist. She would happily jump off the highest tree in the Viridian Labyrinth if it meant protecting another dragon. But this eventually took its toll on Prism.
She found herself staring at her reflection in a small pool in the Sea of a Thousand Currents. She realized with a grim start that she was still exactly the same as when she was fighting for that bogsneak. She was nothing but a vessel of war, dedicating her life to someone else’s cause.
She was nothing.
She was nothing.
She leapt into the water, desperate to change.
That’s when she found the clan she resides in to this very day.
She was greeted by a young Skydancer who took her in. She was able to recreate herself in the safety of the Fishpine Reef, along with new friends and companions.
She still has her cumulus seal, and she still has an aging prowess in battle. But now, she has something else. Something to fight for.
Herself.
