"Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is probably the reason so few engage in it."
Orion was often labeled a loner, one that hatchlings were told to be wary of at that. Darker whispers of strangers would assume that he was working on some sort of darker magics or perhaps even creating some form of spellbook of such things with which to involve others. Maybe his brusque attitude was because he was hiding his evil ways, his exhaustion the result of eldritch rituals. It wasn't true, not that the frankly busy imperial had time to correct them. Those that knew Orion knew better than to trust such things anyways.

Their own curiosity having gotten the better of them, they'd looked at the tome he always carried with him when he'd fallen asleep working (a common occurance) after all. A harmless author, Orion transcribes the life of the clan with such evocative language that it could bring even the most stoic of warriors to tears. This intricate detail stems from a deep passion for the simplest of joys in the word; the crackling of a fire under a bubbling pot; the whispering of leaves against branches under the roaring winds of a storm; the prelude of a cracking egg before the first soft scrape of a hatchling's claws against the stone of the den. Despite coming off as grumpy, truly the Imperial was merely sleep deprived - a small sacrifice for preserving such simple joys for the very hatchlings that told their own stories about the strange lonely dragon on the rocks and what mischief he might be up to.
