Biography

subspecies: RAINBOW DARTERS
Bellus Glamourtail

Species: Fae
Colors: Cerulean - Mint 1, Ivory - Orange 2, Blackberry - Royal 3
Genes: Iridescent/Shimmer/Thylacine

Rainbow Darters are small aquatic dragons that live in the still, shallow waters of the tidepools and even in some inland ponds or lakes. Their brightly colored bodies and wings help them find each other during the rainy season, which also happens to be their breeding season, when the waters are stirred up and murky. It also helps them blend in with some of the colorful fish species that share their habitat. Rainbow Darters are an important part of the food chain, feasting on aquatic insects and larvae. They help keep the land dwellers near their territory from being overrun by mosquitos and other annoying, biting insects.

Temperamentally, they live in small flocks and are generally serene and non-aggressive, except during mating season when single dragons are looking to pair off and mated pairs are looking for nesting territory. Then there can be some spectacular fights! Mated pairs make sticky bubble nests in between roots of lily pads and other aquatic plants, where they can protect and safely tend their hatchlings. Rainbow Darters are considered symbols of prosperity and good luck. They are sensitive to even small changes in their environment, therefore do not do well in times of extreme temperatures or bad climate. When other dragons notice fewer and fewer Rainbow Darters around, it’s a bad sign that troubled times may lie ahead.
