Your stereotypical Earth dragon in every way, Gwendolyn’s surface has been ground down by hardship and thankless work. Her parents were excavators, as their parents were before them, and so Gwendolyn began her life in the mines, clawing chunks of coal and iron from soft training walls alongside her classmates. She quickly surpassed them, but found that skill was rarely adequately rewarded. While the founders of her clan luxuriated in opulence, she and her peers struggled to scrape out a living.

Even so, she toiled obediently onward. The mines were treacherous, the work challenging, but she never felt more at home than with a roof of earth over her head. She yearned increasingly for greater finds, and delved deeper than any had before her in pursuit of that elusive thrill.

Some say she delved too deeply; others cite sabotage. Whatever the cause, when she returned one day from the mines at the end of her shift, she vowed never to return. Shortly thereafter, she left her birth clan, and sought fresh opportunity abroad.

Something had changed her in the cloying darkness of Dragonhome’s forgotten tombs, and she had no intention of sticking around to watch it devour the rest of her kin.
