Kiri is the black sheep of the family. She appears to lack the usual haughtiness and greed of the rest of her family. Her parents were distant and she was often left alone to her own devices. Her mother was so caught up in herself, and her father rarely left his laboratory preferring his creations over his own children. Her unwavering curiosity and naivete to the world are both a boon and a curse. Kiri is softhearted, preferring to travel and collect flowers from every flight she visits. Instead of boredom, she is bemused with everything in the life, and prone to becoming easily attached to people she meets on her travels. She writes to them, and isn't offended if they don't write back. Some do, and those are the ones she cherishes most.

It was on one of her travels that she meet a charming vagabond by the name of Secunda. She was lost and not entirely certain which way was home, he taught her how to read the stars and to let them guide her home. They talked for hours into the night and he even sang for her the songs he found in each part of Sorneith he had visited. Kiri found herself not wanting to go home, it wasn't like she would be missed anyway. Smoothing down her feathers, she mumbled, "Could I come with you?"
