Through all his years of life, Vega had never taken an interest in the commonfolk. Of course, he had always seen himself as an esteemed member of the nobility, given his high ranked position in the lair. Back then, he had mostly been concerned with materialistic things—apparel, familiars, and all the rest. There was simply no reason to bless commoners with his diamond-studded attention, when there were so many other things to worry about.

A few moons' time had changed all of that. His fall from royalty was an almost laughable matter, so ludicrous that he had spent days wandering about in shock. Although his nightmares had often been shrouded with phantoms warning him of a decreased rank, he had never taken them to heart. They were, of course, simply nightmares—nothing to pay attention to once he finished his slumber.

After his fall from the nobility, he began to see life in a different light. Before, he had been spoiled and selfish; his possessions had been his greatest concern and he did not place any value on friendships. This changed drastically when he was cast from his throne. With hardly anyone he could call a friend, he began to rebuild life, reshaping the way he regarded things and looking out for the positive. He made several wonderful companions and earned back some of his possessions, but these were little matters when compared to his utter change in heart. . . for his days among the commoners taught him that love and good virtue should be prized above all.
