Hyperion

Once upon a time Koi wandered off for a week or so and came back with a hatchling Guardian, vaguely explaining that she'd found herself a handsome Guardian boy and this small thing was one of the results (greatly enlightening Romeka, who'd vaguely assumed she was off raising the dead somewhere else for a change).
It's not that unusual for dragons in this clan to breed elsewhere or bring in one-nest stands, but generally speaking the hatchlings don't stick around for that long. This one, however, came in, looked around, dug himself a little sleeping hole and showed precisely no inclination to move out.
As he got older a few of the others started wondering when he'd go off on his Search, and eventually he got tired of this speculation and explained that he'd actually already found his charge. Quite by chance, he was destined to defend this particular lair.
That pretty much shut the others up. His mother is very proud of him.
