Aquamarine

Aqua lived with his father, Toothpaste and his mother, Pacific and he was the youngest of his 7 siblings.
They had a hard time making ends meet as Toothpaste refused to work. Because of this, Pacific was forced to work long shifts every day so Aqua and his siblings didn't see her much but whenever she was home, she would give the hatchlings hugs and read them stories, something Toothpaste insisted was "beneath him".
When Aqua was still a toddler, Toothpaste and Pacific got into a heated argument.
After hours of Toothpaste shooting verbal abuse at his wife, he banished her from the household.
Since that day, Aqua has never seen his mother.
With Pacific banished, the already struggling household had no source of income.
Toothpaste, in a state of distress, sold his eldest son 'Dikket' to some mysterious figures.
Aqua was just a toddler and couldn't understand where his brother had gone, but there were a lot of things he didn't understand so he dismissed the thought.
A few months later, another hatchling was sold.
One by one, Aqua's siblings were disappearing.
A few years had passed. Aqua and Toothpaste were the only ones remaining in the house.
Aqua was more mature now and suspected that his father was behind the disappearances.
The conditions were poor and money was running thin. Aqua's food portions had been gradually decreased by Toothpaste and he was now small and weak.
One fateful night, his father came for him. Aqua awoke to the unpleasant taste of a rag soaked in a dubious substance.
"Don't worry son, the others didn't last. This will all be over soon."
This was the last thing Aqua heard before he was forced unconscious.

Aqua awoke.
He was inside a cage in a warehouse. The putrid taste of his breath was overwhelming and the heat was unbearable.
In his cage with him were two dry biscuits.
As he looked around, he realised he was not alone.
There were hundreds of other cages scattered around like spots on a dalmatian.
Someone in a combat uniform was parading around the space between the cages, he was holding a cane and whacking it against his other hand in a threatening manner.
Opposite his cage, Aqua saw another dragon who had woken up and was screaming to be released.
The guard promptly approached and tasered the poor dragon.
Aqua decided the best course of action would be to pretend to sleep.
He had been in his cage for days and noticed that occasionally, the guard would take a dragon, disappear and return it hours later.
The dragons always returned with a dazed look in their eyes.
There was some sort of live experimentation going on.

It had been a full week.
Aqua had foolishly eaten his biscuits on the first day, thinking they would be restocked.
The guard started walking towards his cage.
He had been lucky up until this point, never being chosen by this disgusting lottery of existence.
The guard approached his cage.
"Don't worry, this won't last long"
The words of Toothpaste shot up in his memory like a firework of panic.
The guard unlocked his cage and stuck his hand in.
At that moment, a raven dived from the ceiling of the warehouse.
"Get off me, you filthy degenerate!"
The bird squawked and pecked at the guards eyes.
Aqua didn't think twice, he ran.
Racing through obstacle course of tortured souls towards the light in the distance.
He ran into it.
It was so bright outside.
He was overwhelmed by the sunlight.
There was no time to enjoy it though, the warehouse was surrounded by fields and there was nowhere for him to hide.
He ran around the side of the building.
The guard would surely find him here.
It was only a matter of time.
He couldn't run anymore and collapsed on the ground. He was to tired and hungry, there was no way he could go any farther.
Suddenly, the raven that had saved him appeared from nowhere and landed on his head with one quick, decisive motion.
It was carrying a bread roll in its beak.
Aqua decided to investigate the raven, surely this couldn't be an ordinary bird?
The bird wore a charm around its neck.
There was a cyan gemstone and a name engraved under it.
"Dikket"
This was his brother.
What had they done to him?

He couldn't think about it now.
Without even chewing, he gulped down the bread roll and ran.
After hours of running, he noticed some odd pillars in the distance.
They were the Sunbeam Ruins.

To this day, he trains at the Ruins with his Raven. One day, when he is strong enough, Aquamarine will return to where he came from.
He will free the dragons from the testing facility.
He will get revenge on his Toothpaste.
He will find his mother.
One day.
