Biography

The Exiled Court is a new arrival in the Cinder Marsh. Not long ago, these dragons came from the Molten Furnace, a powerful and prosperous region of the Molten Scar known for its vast riches in gold and other precious metal. It was ruled an assembly of princely dragons who used their phenomenal wealth to gain influence and power. Yet, these riches attracted them enemies. The Molten Furnace was attacked by the Lightning Flight and its riches plundered. Sensing weakness, other dragons from the Ashfall Waste attacked their fortress and sent the princes of the court in exile. The Exile Court sought refuge in the Cinder Marsh, hoping to gain the support of the Brimstone Alchemist to arm and armor themselves and failling that, simply steal them from them. With those weapons and armors, the Exiled Court is planning on exacting their revenge and return to their stolen land.

Abner used to be a famous and regal dragon. Born in the Mirrorlight Promenade, but raised in the wealthy region known as Molten Furnace, Abner was of noble and illustrious lineage. His father, Akraf, was a powerful figure in the Molten Furnace and when he brought his son there, it was with the intention of passing on to him his fortune and title. Yet, Abner wasn’t a crafty Nocturn with a keen eye for precious metal. He was a Guardian and a natural warrior. Without surprise he became one of the guards of the palace of the Molten Furnace. He quickly became famous for his prideful demeanor and his phlegmatic reaction to danger and threats. His scintillating garnet and sanguine skins gave him the nickname of the Ruby Knight, his affection for precious stones and crystals, some of which who even started to grow over his battle scars, made the name feel twice more true. Abner’s life could have continued in prosperity if his pride didn’t lead him and the entire inhabitants of the Molten Furnace in danger. While standing guard, he caught a thief from the lightning flight who had borrowed through the walls of the treasure vaults and who was trying to make his escape with a precious Solar Flame jewel, symbol of the greatest princess of the Molten Furnace. The thief himself was a well known and influent delegate from the Shifting Expanse. While guilty without a doubt, the case would have to be handled with diplomacy and temperance to avoid conflict. Abner pressured to have the thief made an example off and spent all his influence for it to happen. He finally managed to convince the owner of the stolen jewel, Skara, to have the thief executed. Alas, those who feared war against a powerful clan of the Lightning Flight were right. War engulfed the region and the Molten Furnace Clan was all but destroyed by those who envied its riches. Abner and a few others were thrown into exile and found refuge in the Cinder Marsh where they sought the help of the local population. The haughty dragons of the Exile Court had difficulties to adapt to a more rustic lifestyle. Abner himself lives only for the day his clan will have recovered enough to reclaim their lost homeland. In the meantime, he helps his companion train for war and seeks to obtain weapons and armors. Ever prideful, he refuses theft as a legitimate way to obtain them, even if other amongst the exiles have suggested and attempted it. He also strongly opposes the idea of purchasing mercenaries, as he doesn’t trust dragons motivated by greed and treasure over anything else.
