Samhain

Samhain was found as an abandoned infant by Cuddlebunny, the progenitor of the clan within the thicket, and was raised as if he were Cuddlebunny's own son. Within days of reaching adulthood officially within the clan, Cuddlebunny began to venture far out of the clan into the deeper woods and vanished for days at a time, forcing the young boldly adventurous Sam to step back out of the training grounds and battle fields to manage the clan in his adoptive father's absence. Resentment built over months, boiling over when Cuddlebunny announced that their One who presides had instructed him to hibernate and allow Sam to find their new leader, and a legendary fight within the clan ensued. Samhain believed that his father was delusional at best and neglectful of his duties at worst, and if he so desired to abandon their clan then that was just as well but Cuddlebunny would have no right to it if he left command.

Cuddlebunny, infuriated but tempered by his desire to follow what he had been told, accepted it and moved forward with his plans to hibernate. Sam, in a petty fit of temper, forced the remaining clan members to pick between two options: stay with their old leader and be left out of Samhain's growing vision, or follow Sam and leave Cuddlebunny behind to whatever befell him in his sleep. In following years, it would be one of his oldest regrets. Ultimately, a handful of older members agreed to stay with Cuddlebunny through his deep sleep and guard him and ushered the young to follow Sam and guide the clan from danger to safety.

Young Jasper came forward to Sam alone shortly after in the dead of night, raking his claws through the dirt and lamenting the state of the soil, insisting that if they depart they must venture far from the thicket because terrible things were brewing. Emboldened by Jasper's solemn council, Sam gathered his new followers and led them on a journey to the fertile lands Jasper could smell (which ultimately would be the Shifting Expanse), and along the way, tucked along the path Sam met a young blue eyed imperial unearthing a small nature egg. Sam quickly was enraptured with the charming imperial, helping him obtain the egg and offering a place within their caravan to newer lands, which the imperial, Aurelius, accepted.

In the last grove before the lush greenery fell away, many days from the start of their journey, the egg hatched within Aurie's care to reveal a young wildclaw infant with a curious nature emblem on his forehead. The hatchling immediately imprinted on Aurie and Sam both and they chose to name him Larkhaven, for the animals that answered any of his cries or coos.
