Zypheron

Zypheron is the Royal Consort of the Court of Polaris. He holds a royal title in the Sea of a Thousand Currents, but cast off his responsibilities and land to be able to travel to gather knowledge.

Zypheron's family's loyalty is tied heavily to the Tidelord. They follow his every wish and obey his every command. They fight great battles in his name, but none of this ever appealed to Zypheron. He only wanted to read about history and learn magic. His family found this shameful, forcing him to take part in their Clan's dealings. When he was of age, he fled to the Southern Icefields, where it was commonly known that they treasured knowledge and lore.

Upon arriving, he went from town to town, to occasional stronghold, and learned what he could of the lands and what libraries it held. He visited many keeps and stayed to read their books and learn their stories. Many of the dragons told him that the fortresses in the mountains contained many rare finds, and several holds treasured knowledge above all else.

So Zypheron prepared himself for the frozen trek and slowly made his way higher and higher up the mountainside, stopping wherever a Clan would let him rest and learn from them.

When he reached the grand walls of Fort Wolfsbane, he fell in love with the architectural beauty of its halls. Tall twirling columns held up high ceilings, glimmering beams of light filtered through stained glass windows that depicted forgotten battles. And although storms raged against the walls, the grand mages kept the weather at bay.

Zypheron met the ruler of Fort Wolfsbane and was instantly fond of her calm and collected demeanor. He got to know her well during the first few months of him staying there, she personally oversaw his research while he was in her libraries. At first she was only mildly curious about him, and eventually she'd come to find him in the village whenever a warrior brought back another tome. Together they would pour over the new works.

Soon thereafter, Valkyrie extended an invitation to work within her Clan as the Keeper of Lore. Zypheron would be in charge of the great libraries and care for the books and artifacts that came through. The imperial was more than qualified, considering the amount of time he'd spent learning the lore of the Southern Icefields, and how much he treasured books.

On a fateful day, delving deep into a distant dungeon, Zypheron saved Valkyrie against an ambush of shade creatures, smiting them with a great blast of crackling fire from his maw. And they grew very close after that, Zypheron practically attached to her.

During the days she is at court, he lounges around the throne room, keeping track of the conversations and treaties that happen with an ink and quill and then storing them in the appropriate section of the libraries. Otherwise he can be found carefully caring for the ancient and deteriorating pages of lore that are brought before him.
