~Two of a Kind~ Before he found his lady Starmap, he was a typical loner with a stand-offish personality. Most thought it was due to the embarrassment caused by the unusual breeding between his parents, Dawnbreaker - a gorgeous imperial who dances in the shadows, and Fizzysip - a rather petite and silly spiral with a love for bubbly drinks. In actuality, Coppercast had a secret fiery passion for metalwork and craftsmanship, but was instead placed in groups of hunting and border patrols for his easily-camouflaged body. He shunned the work, but was diligent enough to do the work anyway. |

On one of his daily patrols, he saw a shimmer in the mirages near the desert border. Warily, he approached it. He saw... his reflection? No. He realized now he hadn't actually moved, but that instead a similar-looking Pearlcatcher was barreling towards him. She couldn't slow herself before a massive tangle of legs, limbs, and tails knocked them both prone and breathless on the warm ashy ground. She was obviously dehydrated and confused, coughing and flailing wildly. He tried to calm her down before carefully unraveling himself and giving a proper introduction. "Sorry for the tangle, I- uh.." He stammered, looking into her deep-green eyes, "Apologies. Let's get you back to camp, and find you some water." She finished shaking off most of the ash and soot, then looked about frantically. "My-My pearl!" Coppercast opened his small wings to reveal it cupped against his belly, "I was afraid you might be too weak to carry it, so I...but if you'd rather-" "I-... No, no. You're fine.. But...You don't mind walking?" "Not at all. The camp's not far from here." He gestured towards the cliffs, and they began the trek back. Finally, she turned to him, smiling, "I'm Starmap, by the way." "Ah- Coppercast! Nice to meet you." He smiled back. |
