I first noticed Marcello when I stopped by Cella’s glass-chip shop to get my timepiece repaired. He was a skittish employee, and apologized to me when I accidentally stepped on his tail. I assumed he was another Fire refugee flooding into Dragonhome and didn’t pay any mind. However, when I picked up my timepiece a week later, I asked few questions out of habit and his answers fell into suspicion for the following reasons: 1. He baked and served me a slice of mincemeat pie. 2. He’s likely too young to be a former forge technician like he claimed. 3. Both his claws and his manners are too sharp and clean to fit in with those forge laborers who spit at me on the street. 4. The mincemeat pie was delicious, which is suspicious for obvious reasons. Naturally, I decided to investigate and turned my ear to the Ashfall Waste by asking questions and going through mail. Unfortunately, everything I managed to learn was rife with rumor. The Clans directly involved with the Blacksand Treasure Crisis have been to busy putting each other under siege to comment, and thus I am still in the dark about young Marcello. However, I did learn that his Clan, Clan Laycan, which he claimed was part of the the Steelmaker’s Guild, doesn’t exist. I reported his curious behavior to Dinara, and she decided to keep a closer eye on him by recruiting him to her kitchen staff. As far as I can tell, he hasn’t poisoned anyone yet. |
