Thorn makes no attempt to disguise their past occupation as an assassin, nor her desire to return to it. She arrived at the Lagoon on a ship sailing from the Sunstream Outpost, where she had left her brother, pausing only to pick up her supplies. Despite her intentions, the muddled magic of the Juniper Swamp lured her in - particularly when she encountered Allure and Lamina. Finding two kelpies at the Swamp persuaded her to stay: as half-harpy she had never felt welcomed by either dragon or beastclan, and she was curious as to why they might have made their home here.

That the majority of the dragons in the Swamp and Lagoon are nonviolent repulses Thorn, but nor is she inclined to participate in the displays of fighting at the coliseum, and she spurns the attention given to her by Aarus and other gladiators. Instead she spends her time in the Wilds or by the docks, awaiting commissions that take her away from the Swamp for days or even weeks at a time. Each journey she promises that she will not return, but her feet always find their way back to the swamp somehow, much to the joy of Baxia, who swears he will win her heart some day.
