Biography

pDACUOg.gif Cyprus

Born in The Gladeveins, Cyprus had always had interest in alchemy. Having learnt many uses of the plants native to her homeland, she was a quick study when it came to brewing potions and understanding the reactions taking place within her mother's cauldron. In spite of her innate talent, she decided against taking up the mantle of apprenticeship under the guide of her mother to one day become the her birthclan's alchemist, instead choosing to spread her wings and soar far from her home and the expectations set for her.

The sun was setting, spreading it’s glorious array of colors over the Zephyr Steppes. A smile slipped over Cyprus’s face as she felt the warmth of the sun on her skin, accompanied with the soothing breezes ruffling her feathers. The thought of her mother slipped across her mind briefly, a flash of a memory of them collecting plants together under another sunset long ago. Cyprus laughed. If only her Mother could see her now, far away from home, and apprenticement, and responsibility, and anything and everything that would weigh her down!

“Cyprus” said Radiowave, close by her side. “What are you laughing about?”

“Oh, nothing.” she said, “I’m just that I’m glad that I’m here.”

Radiowave smiled softly. “Where do you plan to head next?”

Cyprus tossed her head, “I don’t plan anything, darling.” she said, “I just go wherever the wind and my soul take me.”

This made Radiowave laugh aloud. “Well, where does your soul say we should go next?”

Cyprus closed her eyes and lifted her head towards the sky. “Mmmm, Maybe the Ashfall Waste, or the Sea of a Thousand Currents, or the Tangled Wood!”

She opened her eyes and looked laughingly at Radiowave again. “We’ll know when we get there.”

He laughed again. “I suppose that’s true enough, travelling with you!” He glanced at her sideways. “Are you ever going to go back and -”

“Be the alchemist my mother wanted me to be?” finished Cyprus, “No, never.” She stared off into the sunset for a moment. “I may go back to visit sometime, but I’m never going to stay or be their alchemist.” She smirked. “I was just too good, you know? And with that kind of talent, they’ll never let you leave, or get a break from all their rules.”

There was a short silence, but Cyprus wasn’t one to bear uncomfortable silences for long. “Let’s go faster, shall we?” she said, “I’ll race you to that tree!”

And with that, she took off.

“Hey, wait!” Called Radiowave, hurrying to try to catch up with her, “Which tree?”

He could hear her laughter burbling back at him, but he received no further answer.

Eventually he found her waiting for him under one of the many bamboo trees in the area.

“What in the world took you so long?” She asked, amused.

Radiowave flushed. “I didn’t know that you meant this tree.”

Cyprus giggled at him, “Let’s keep going.” she said, “I have a feeling this way is going to take us somewhere interesting.”

“Everywhere is interesting to you.” retorted Radiowave.

“As long as I don’t have to stay for long!” called Cyprus.

“Do you even know where you’re going?”

“Nope!”

Radiowave sighed, “What if we end up in the Wyrmwound or something?”

“Well, then we’ll explore and say hello to the Plaguebringer while we’re at it!”

“You’re crazy!”

“We’re all crazy, I’m just smart enough to act like it!” she called back. And she took off into the dying light, with Radiowave flying willingly after her.
