Being born a vampire was no easy feat. Despite her parents being the Lord and Lady of their land in the Tangled Wood, rebellious Daasdrei continued to try and see the light. She heard so many stories about it, and her curious nature got the better of her. When she finally slipped away from her parents one night, she stayed out of the castle until the sun rose. A family servant came to rescue her, when they heard her screams of pain. It was by pure luck and the blessing of the Shadowbinder, that Daasdrei didn't have any lasting injuries. From that day, though, she was confined to the castle, going through obedience classes, and other lectures to prepare her for the world outside. She never did make the mistake of going towards the light again. As she grew up, Daasdrei turned into quite the aristocratic young lady. She learned politics from her parents, and watched as they laid the rules of the land. Saw how they dealt with criminals and spies. Learned how to organize finances. The usual 'boring' stuff. When she started to learn how to dance, though, her mother warned her about potential suitors that might come and take her hand. Not many wanted to be wed to a vampire, no matter their political power. Her mother taught her the rules of combat, should she ever need to fight off a potential assassin. Her father didn't approve of her learning how to fight, but she didn't care. Soon, she didn't care what her parents thought of her. For if she didn't get a suitor, then she was next in line to take over their estate. Their power. Their land, their kingdom... For many years, many had tried to court Daasdrei, only to fail. She took on a 'cruel' habit of draining the blood from any suitor that tried to seduce her only for her power. She let the family servant take care of the bodies. Many tried to woo her into bed, using words and even things slipped into her drink. She would have none of it, and they too met their end by her fangs. No matter how many balls and events her parents threw, there was not a single dragon that met up to her standard. Which suited her just fine. She was after her parents' spots on the throne. She didn't need an Emperor or King to rule the land. It would be an added bonus sure, but not necessary. And if push came to shove...she wasn't above killing her own parents to take over the throne... Her parents were spared, when an Imperial named Janto arrived at one of the balls her parents threw. This dragon caught her attention. Many of the other higher ranking officials at the party gave him a wide berth, as if afraid of him. A few even bowed before him. Regal looking, he stole the spotlight, as crimson robes flowed from his tall, powerful body. And speaking of power...he emanated quite the 'force' from himself. As such, Daasdrei found herself drawn to him. A dance with showed he knew how to maneuver his large body, and even holding her as gently as he was, she could feel how powerful he was. Yes, he was the one. The two of them could easily work together. ...And should things fail, she wanted Janto's power for herself... |
After a brief ceremony, the two were bound by wedding contract, and she soon left the castle. Her parents had another chance at life...for now. Leaving her land was tricky, however. She could not go out during the day, and if she absolutely had to, she couldn't without cover. Janto seemed to have everything in order. A caravan was brought, covered with thick cloth, so that not even a beam of sunlight could go through. She traveled in that, all the way back to the Executrix Empire--a large Empire, seemingly in the middle of the desert in the Shifting Expanse. The constant threat of storms hid the sun away most of the time--it was perfect for her. She could go outside much more often than before. And she loved the storms. Janto's palace overlooked everything in the Empire. Yes, this was absolutely perfect. Daasdrei quickly picked up on how things ran in the Executrix Empire, and impressed Janto with her quick learning...as well as other, more private things. While she has been forbidden to drink from him, she has free pick of anyone in the City of Executrix. She goes on nightly walks, picking up poor dragons from the streets to drain of their blood. Most don't even realize what's happening, until its too late... She's also ran into a sort of rivalry with Janto's escort and former lover, Azarhi. To her, the weak Imperial is nothing but an eyesore. He has no use anymore to Janto, and yet Janto keeps him around. As to why, she doesn't know. But she gets great enjoyment out of tormenting him, and breaking his spirit little by little. She hopes to rid of him completely. For Janto is hers, and hers alone. There is talk about Daasdrei eventually betraying Janto, but those rumors are quickly snuffed out. Those that spread them are usually not seen the next day, forever gone into the night. Only Daasdrei can keep her secret. She vies for Janto's power. She wants it for herself. She'll play the Empress for a little bit longer. Have an heir or five with him, until he's comfortable around her. Then and only then...will she put her plan into action. ...Or so the rumor goes... |
