Ex-Warrior/Storyteller
Generation 2
"Quote" ~ Quote Sayer

Brave | Gentle | Charismatic
---
He/Him | Straight | Mated to Tarvinae

An ex soldier, Laukteran values family over everything. Although he appears rather scary and imposing, he's actually quite friendly and fun-loving. He left the army in search of a mate to start a family with, and a clan to call home. He traveled straight from Dragonhome through the Scarred Wasteland and Windswept Plateau, meeting Tarvinae in a small market on the edge of the Ashfall Waste. Before long he "wooed her with my impressive strength and charming personality". One short month later was when he was brought to the Blacksand Annex, where the clan lived at the time. He was, of course, accepted into the clan.

The day he became a father, if he was asked, was the happiest day of his life. That moment of watching his daughter hatch and screech up at him for the first time literally brought him to tears. He is, by far, the proudest father in the entire clan.

Although moving away from his birthland was difficult for him, and getting used to the polluted air of the Waste took some time, he wouldn't have his life any other way. "I have a beautiful mate, the most precious daughter, and a clan that cares and supports each other." He would move heaven and earth for his clan and his family. The only thing he isn't quite content with his that "we don't have enough kids! ... Vae, we otta get on that!"

Hardly having the patience to wait for the clan to settle into the Scarred Wasteland, Laukteran took Tarvinae and, at the time, their young hatchling to Dragonhome. They spent almost a month in the Earthshaker's domain, traveling and visiting anywhere and everywhere any of them wanted to go. It is one of Laukteran's most cherished memories to date.

Questions from Ask A Dragon!

From @Khuzdul on August 16, 2020
Laukteran, what's the worst injury you've gotten in your time as a warrior?
Laukteran, although enthusiastic about answering a question, hadn't been expecting... that. His shoulders sank and his eyes went blank, as if the air around him had frozen him solid.
"Lauk? Lauk, look at me." Tarvinae turned his head with her wing, looking up into his dark eyes. "You don't have to say, honey. I'm sure they'd understand."
Laukteran stared at his mate for a moment, then heaved a stuttered sigh, shaking his head. "No, it's alright. Thank you, my dear." He let out a low, nearly inaudible rumble, and a Steelhound trotted into the room. "My worst injury was that which forced me to retire. I was out with a crew of younger dragons; it was the first for many of them. It was supposed to be a recon mission, but we were ambushed the moment we stepped into enemy territory. Around 40 dragons to our 18, and it was an instant blood bath..." The ridgeback's eyes went dark as his Steelhound pulled at the main strap in his armor. The lower plate swung open, revealing a large sunken area in his chest, his pattern inconsistent in that spot. "I-... I had a decent part of my chest ripped out that day, and spent ages recovering, but I was one of only a few that were fortunate enough to return... So many young, promising lives were lost that day, and I could only save a few of them..." His voice cracked at the end of his sentence, shutting his eyes tight. The Steelhound quickly returned the armor to it's closed position, and Tarvinae pressed her head against her mate's, catching a few of his tears on her nose. "I just- should have done more that day. I could have... I'm sorry, I need to go." Laukteran shuffled out of the room without another word.

A letter was later sent to Khuzdul's lair, neat handwriting inked across the parchment.

Please forgive Laukteran for earlier. He is normally very willing to share his experiences, but he is quite serious (and sensitive) about that injury. We do appreciate and thank you for your question. Enjoy the rest of your day.
