Flamerest Embers
The Fire Ambassador: Phoenix
Flamerest Embers
firemid.png
lTPLJTV.png Phoenix is a master metalworker. Her ability to form shapeless metal into piercing weapons or beautiful works of art has given her quite a reputation among certain guilds in the Ashfall Waste. Many dragons have probably come across her work without realizing it; Phoenix has never been one for fame and rarely marks the products of her hard work with the normal seal most metalworkers use to prove something was made by their hand. Instead, Phoenix passes her work on for other guilds to sell, and accepts only enough payment to keep her forge running.

Years of prolonged exposure to ash and coal dust stained her once vibrant coat a shade of dull black. Though Phoenix herself didn't care about the loss of color as it had no effect on her ability to create, many of her Coatl colleagues became more and more wary of her as time went on. Phoenix continued her work without paying any mind to the looks she received until things in her guild hit the boiling point. The forgemasters had been up to no good, and with the words of rebellion spreading like wildfire, tensions were high. Dragons turned on each other, hurling accusations of cooperation with the greedy councilmen or crazed rebels with wild abandon. Many thought Phoenix was undercover for the "other side" (which side she was supposed to be on exactly was never made clear) because of her change in appearance and wallflower demeanor. After Por's successful claim to the new island produced by the overflow of Fire energy, Phoenix was excommunicated from her guild. As every resident of the Flamecaller's domain knows, trying to find good work without a guild is like trying to find a snowflake in the Great Furnace: near impossible unless the gods themselves intervene.

Phoenix was and still is a being of creation. For her, living without a forge to stoke is barely living at all. After being dropped from her guild, she packed her belongings and left to find a new place to work. Almost every region was in some state of turmoil, as she soon discovered. She had heard rumors about an Emperor raining destruction down in the Sunbeam Ruins, and the stories of residents in Dragonhome disappearing deep into the mines, never to return. It seemed like old breeds of dragon that had long been thought extinct or mere myth were showing up in droves as well.

After careful thought, she decided to move into the Viridian Labyrinth; though political tensions were present there as well, it was not being actively attacked by anyone or anything, and it was still environmentally stable (unlike the suddenly backwards spinning storms of the Windswept Plateau and the rapidly growing mountains of the Starfall Isles). The Astera Clan was kind enough to offer her a place within their ranks, as long as she agreed to work with other Fire clans and dragons on their behalf. Of course, she was also encouraged to take up metalwork again, and was provided with a spacious cavern in which to do her forging. She now works with vigor once again, providing her new clan with weapons, apparel, and tools as the need arises. Though her quiet tendencies remain, the few dragons who have coaxed conversation out of her find her insights sharp and her wit sharper.
