Speaker-for-the-Deep
The Voice of the Darkness/The Dreameater

Caller summoned. The depths answered.

Speaker was Caller's first try, an attempt to channel his beloved eldritch truth into a living being. But it didn't work; it broke him too badly. He was nothing but a screaming wreck. Caller, frustrated by his failure, stole the dragon away and - in a move that could have made his deranged mother proud - sealed him under strict mind control in a secret cavern.

When awake, the dragon speaks in odd tongues and draws strange symbols on the walls. He's never spoken proper Draconic before. Caller could've shielded him, but hasn't. It's not worth the energy.

Who is Speaker? Perhaps he is someone, buried deep in his ruined mind. But it would take a monumental effort to uncover anything...

A Happening:

Encouraged by the appearance of aberrations in Sornieth, Caller dragged his prisoner to the Wyrmwound and threw him in. True to his hopes, Speaker transformed - but in doing so, gained access to his own mind and will once again. While being transported back into the Plateau, he took a sudden opportunity to escape, and fled from Caller's clutches.

He found safety in a peaceful monastery in the Plateau, inhabited by dragons seeking a quiet life and ruled by a trio of fey lords. The fey took a liking to Speaker immediately, curious about him, about how malleable his mind was and how eager he was to learn about the world. He has been learning from them ever since, and serves them well, acting as their mouthpiece and agent to communicate with mortal dragons. In return, he is theirs to keep and protect.
