Biography

Nadiacus - Explorer, Mapping, Traveling Dragon
Original Owner - SilverWhiteRaven #306014
Traveling Dragon Thread Post

Description:
Extremely observant with physical details, easily able to describe dragons, things and places as though they are currently looking at them. all of their eyes work perfectly, allowing 360 view and easy night vision. Most of their sensory intake is visual, and can become helpless if blinded. Has a bad habit of trying to read multiple books at once, despite failing to do so and quitting every time.
Often gets confused and loses track in conversations and prefers not to talk with large groups because of this.
Most of her time is spent in the sky, looking down at the landscape and memorizing the details. Also skilled at star mapping and weather patterns.
Not easily upset by others due to having a sense of detachment from social affairs, though they do their best to remain respectful to others.

The leader of Clan Quills was perched on a large crystal outcrop as Nadiacus made their approach and descent into the clan's region of the Starfall Isles. A single red Mirror sat beside her on the ground.

"Greetings. T'is wondrous that thou hast come to aid our clan in a time of such dire need. The upheavals as the Crystalspine Reaches continue to reach upward have revealed much in the Strand. New leylines must be mapped, but without a map of the new areas, t'is impossible to complete. Thine eyes shall see the land and make note so that our researchers may follow to map the magic that lies beneath," her voice was as monotone as most Fae, and her speech was full of old language, however her body language and excited frill twitches expressed her excitement fully. She gestured to the Mirror.

"Solanum shall guard and guide you, not all Beastclans in the Isles are fond of our studies."

Sol merely nodded to the multi-gaze Fae and trotted off in the direction of their mission. His unsheathed cleaver clanked menacingly against his scales as he went.

"I'll do my best, after our survey of the area, I can make a map easily," Nadiacus assured Quillian.

"Thou shalt be provided ample light and quarter to complete your task at our research base. We shall see thee anon."

Quillian took her leave and Nadiacus was left to follow the grumpy guide. Once airbound, they were able to see the new section, a split in the strand where ancient ruins had been pushed back up to the surface in a great quake. The currents of air, likely all the way from the neighboring Windswept Plateau, lofted them higher and higher, the Starwood Strand stretched out until it reached the sea, the blues and purples of the shimmering leaves played in the sunlight. They took in the ruins and the new deep crag that ran through them, all the natural paths that were visible from the sky through the swaying of the branches, the red blur of her guide on the ground, and ... a band of centaurs far below.

Nadiacus took a moment to locate Solanum again, then the centaurs. Their markings denoted them as a hunting party, and their coats showed that they were decidedly not of the friendly Dunhoof clan. Shock and alarm filled Nadiacus as they swooped downward, survey abandoned, to warn Sol that there was an imminent attack. He looked puzzled as she landed on a branch above him.

"Shouldn't you be skybound and completing the survey?"

"No time! There are five Wintermane hunters stalking you, two with bows, three with spears, all in warpaint."

"There's what-" Solanum tried to get more information, but an arrow whizzed by his face and he barely twitched out of the way in time. He snarled and the hefty cleaver was in his claws in a heartbeat. The skirmish lasted only minutes, but felt a lifetime, Nadiacus flitted from branch to branch, impossible to strike by blade or bow thanks to their incredible vision, and frequently chirped out warnings to Sol who would turn and block or dodge. The pair proved too much and the centaur hunters retreated to lick their own wounds.

"Let's..." Solanum panted, "...let's head back. You have enough information, yes?"

Nadiacus nodded, the vision of the landscape etched into their mind.

Later that evening, Nadiacus was cozy in a large amber colored bubble, a cured sap quarters attached to the largest tree in the clan grounds. Quill, ink, and cartography charts were spread before them as they mapped the day's survey. They paused when there was a call from outside and peered out the round opening to the night air. Solanum sat below the tree.

"I appreciate what you did. Your efforts likely kept me alive today, I'd like you to take this, as a token of my appreciation. My pack would have been leaderless, if I had perished."

He handed her a small black claw and a shard crystal from the Reaches.

"It is not much, but you did not need to aid a dragon you didn't know, and yet you did. I do not forget such debts, nor should you. Hopefully, any further surveys that are needed will see you visit again," Solanum nodded to the cartographer and took his leave once more.

A peaceful evening closed out their stay with Clan Quills and they returned to their home with a few baubles and payment for the map work.
