This Nightmare found Avalon not long after the lose of her clan. It saw her upset and hurt and decided to stick wit her for as long as it possibly can. Only a few of her clan members can see it.

A Story of a Lost Soul
written by Ryuichi Avalon, at first glance, is a dragon of strength and power. A Guardian who lives up to the name, she will do everything she can to protect those she loves. Its not uncommon for Avalon to be seen watching over the youth of her clan, guaranteeing their safety and protection as long as she is around. She has a soft spot for those who cannot protect themselves, and often finds herself taking them in and caring for them. Her clan consists of those she has taken in, either young, sick, or injured, and helped them gain footing and strength in the world. Despite being the queen and head of her clan, Avalon is a follower at heart. Avalon does her best as the clan leader, but her heart truly belongs in a place where she can simply protect and follow orders of another who can show her what to do. She was once a soldier, but this was not the fate she had to follow, and thus she became a queen dedicated to protecting those she has left. Avalon is a strong believer in respecting the nature and way of the world around her. She refuses to disrupt the cycle of life in any way, and will often scold those in her clan that kill without reason or cause. She respects every life given on this earth, and often has a ritual of thanking the Gladekeeper for everything she finds or that has been granted to her. Avalon holds strongly to the ideals of her nature, and as such it's often rare for her to get along with those of the plague flights. She believes it dishonorable to fight and kill just to show off strength and power, and it often has her come off as rude to those that don't agree or follow her same morals. This ideal of hers was then challenged after meeting Namtar, a dragon of the plague flight that came across her clan during the night. He had been wounded in a battle and his old clan abandoned him. Sick and in need of assistance, he stumbled far from home and into the Everbloom Gardens, hoping to seek shelter from predators and other dragons in the lush bushes and plants. Accidentally, he stumbled into Avalon's lair, causing a panic among the younger dragons who'd never encountered those of the plague flight before. Avalon quickly rushed to their protection, but was met with an injured dragon and every instinct in her led her to take him in, despite the differences between them. She nursed him back to health while he told her stories of his home and clan. Avalon soon grew to love him and his stories, realizing that she was wrong for her quick judgements. Once he was well, Avalon invited Namtar to stay in her clan, and he happily accepted. Not long after, he began to court her and she accepted him very quickly. They became mates and Namtar does his best to help Avalon with clan leading. They are a power couple that one would be a fool to mess with. A long time ago, a small dragon was born into a large clan of dragons dedicated to harmony and peacefulness. She was a curious and excitable hatchling, often running off and having her mother chase after her constantly. She would enjoy running off to watch the protectors of the clan train to keep up their strengths, her father was among these protectors and sometimes she would try to copy his moves to be just like him. Her mother would often find her hiding in a bush watching and copying all the moves as best she could. Her mother would always giggle and correct her stances, then gently nudge her back to the nest so she could watch her better. This dragons name was Avalon, and she was the daughter of the deputies of her clan, destined for greatness. From birth, it was very obvious that Avalon would follow in her father's footsteps. She was strong and fast, a clever dragon who could strategize under pressure quickly. She took pride in this fact, always eager to learn more and do what was needed for her to fall into those footsteps. As she grew, she gradually gained the respect of the clan, being kind and respectful to all she encountered and interacted with. She spent her time either caring for her elders and the young, or training to protect those in her clan. As the time passed, her clan began having tensions with a larger clan who wanted more territory. Avalon's clan had always been one of peace, but their territory had grown short and all if they lost anymore they would lose their hunting grounds and it would drag their numbers down significantly. Their clan leader, an old tundra who had been leader for far too long but refused to step down, decided they would have to defend themselves this time. This is what lead to Avalon becoming a soldier for her once peaceful clan. The territory battles quickly turned to war. It was a brutal time for Avalon and her clan. They were not equipped or trained to fight in such a war, and the protectors were just a few dragons against a much larger clan that had been fighting for territories since their start. The first tragedy in the war was Avalon's father, who was a captain in the war and his lose was a great blow to the clan. Avalon, although stricken with grief, quickly stepped up to take his place. She commanded her clan as best she could, dragging them through the war and scarcely winning battles or ending them in truces. It was not enough. The much bigger clan grew fierce and deadly. They were angry that this so called peaceful clan would not give up, and even angrier that the clan had manage to somehow hold their own against them. This anger drove them to darker methods, and during the night, while Avalon scouted and watched their territories lines for intruders, the much bigger clan swept into the lair and murdered every sleeping dragon there. Avalon was the lone survivor. Being the only survivor, this massacre left her without a clan. She felt lost and alone after the tragedy, unsure of how she should proceed. A few days passed where she mourned her loss, but Avalon was not one to sit in her own misery. She decided to start her own clan, a better clan that she could protect and make sure thrived. She found a lair in the everbloom gardens and set to work, making it livable and comfortable for any dragon that would live there. Soon after she welcomed in Boreas, a strong guardian who was sick and lost in the gardens. She offered him a home and shelter, and he told her of those he had been traveling with and separated from, another guardian and two hatchlings. Avalon immediately set out to find the lost dragons and welcome them to her home. She faced challenges, but she ultimately found Anora and the hatchlings, welcoming them into her lair. Anora had her own lair and home, but she wanted Avalon to take in Serket and Eros, the two lost hatchlings she'd been traveling with. Anora and Boreas were going to return to Anoras lair, but Anora could not travel after laying her eggs, she wouldn't abandon her nest. So for the time being, the two are welcome to stay at Avalon's lair as much as is needed, while the hatchlings will grow and stay apart of Avalon's clan. Avalon thought she would lead her clan as a queen, without any focus on love or nesting. But then came Namtar, who found his way into her life unexpectedly. They have two hatchlings together, having originally had five but three never hatched. It was heartbreaking to her to lose three of her hatchlings, but she raises her remaining hatchlings proudly. She hopes one day to have more children and that they will grow as strong and as kind as her. |
