Biography
ALVAR
Blacksmith || A young soul with a heart for tinkering
Blacksmith || A young soul with a heart for tinkering
|
Dragons say that the ones who were raised in the sands were not good blacksmiths. Those who grew up surrounded by sand usually created things with it, mainly glass. You would be a beautiful artisan if you could blow glass and paint it to be shown to the world as a token of your talent. For Alvar, that wasn't quite his forte despite being raised with it. Glass was always too delicate for his eager claws. Although he lived in a group of wonderful artists, making fine details and trinkets were specifically for paintbrushes. And paint wears off, Alvar mused as he sat in the sandstone windowsill as a juvenile. I want to make my clan proud, but I also want to make something different than objects that just look pretty. I want to make things that are useful. Things that will last far after I'm gone. As with many young adult dragons, he set out away from home to learn something a little more under his wingspan. The fire in his eyes led him to the bosom of the Flamecaller's domain, where he worked as a fledgling in the mines and entrance areas of the Great Furnace. With each day of hard work, he would come up with ideas for his tools and find ways to improve them based on what he was doing. The dull pickaxes and bulky iron gauntlets worn by most of the blacksmiths were second grade to what he spent the time to perfect. It didn't take long for the Wildclaw to find his calling. He wasn't one for the heavy durable iron nor the fragility of glass, but he met somewhere in the middle. Somewhere between aesthetic and utility. The armor he creates is slim and lightweight, but it serves it's purpose well. He will engrave ornaments into his finest pieces. He is still a beginner with his craftsmanship in the lair, but always learning and always improving his works. Neptune is comfortable with the aspiring blacksmith making a small smeltery. Her clan guardians can use good armor, after all. Alvar gets along well with the other Wildclaws in the lair, and befriends the eldest hatchlings when they peak their curiosities at whatever he forges. Although eager to offer ideas, he's quiet in conversation. It's easy to get him to smile, and he has a heart full of molten gold. |
