Knox is different. Whereas her half-sister has taken a patron of nature and elegance upon her gilded throne, Knox has betrayed all thought of royalty. Instead accepting her role as the leader of outcasts. As her coan grows in size and numbers, her, and her followers stay to the outwards corners of the clan territory.

Traveling dragons have always feared the Red Princess, as she is not mentioned in any history of the land. But her father, Valère has always feared a second attack from invaders, just like the one that took his wife away from him. As such he asked the Gaoler in charge of the records, an old man named Venire, to never mention his daughter in his visions: a request that usually would be charged with death. However, Valère was not the only one to visit Venire about the request. The king's sister in law Zahira, a fire-born seer who has seen the trauma cursing Valère, requested the hatchling's name never meet the ink of a pen or the hum of lips. As such, the princess's fate was sealed.

In the clan, most members don't know the secret royal blood that surveys the outside of the clan walls, as they regard her as only a warrior with a heart of steel, her armor and ripped cloth adorn her skin as a mark of victory and war.
