Born into a water clan, the ocean was always a constant in Poptart's life. When she ventured beyond her clan, she took with her the sounds of her home - gulls crying overhead, echoes from the depths of home buried in seashells, the gentle lapping of waves against the shore, breezy wind surfing over the surface. However, perhaps the most vital thing she brought with her was her love of water. The urge to explore the great deep blue was oddly strong for a dragon of a land-bound species. Despite this and the weight of her armoured body, nothing could stop Poptart from trying. She'd fulfil her wish to swim regardless of her barriers. But snappers weren't made to swim, and her clanmates never let her forget it.

Even the Light territory could suffer from cold winters, but it failed to explain the existence of a peculiar lake located near the outskirts of the clan. Into it poured seven cascading waterfalls, all chilly to the touch, and frost glided ceaselessly over the grass regardless of the season. Over time, deep-rooted icebergs had risien up, spiralling pillars that casted a rainbow shine over the lake surface. As a result of the cold, it was an uninhabited spot with few dragons. Several curious Arcane dragons had examined the area, questioning how such a place could exist. Through this, they discovered the remnants of an ice blessing, maintaining the frozen land. Thus it gained its name, Frostbite Falls. Here, Poptart's reflection rippled in the glassy surface of the lake.

Boldly, she'd declared her desire to swim before the clan, earning her a handful of disbelief and blatant laughter. "A snapper isn't supposed to swim!" they cried mockingly, "With that build, you'd drown sooner than you'd float!" Embarrassment ran her red, and flustered and angry she'd departed in a flurry of heavy foot stomps, denting the ground and proving their point. She'd show them, she'd show them all. Maybe snappers weren't made for water, but that doesn't mean she couldn't learn.

With a deep breath, she dipped her foot into the shallow end of the shimmering waters. Shocking cold bolted through her veins, freezing her solid for icy seconds before with a yelp, she reared back. 'Cold, very cold,' she thought. 'The ocean at home was never as cold as this.'

With that thought came a pang of melancholy for her home. Cleaning the beaches and clearing them of waste with her family, collecting seashells in baskets and listening to the ocean as it changed moods from calm and soothing to raging and angry. It reminded her of all the time she'd spent growing up around water, learning about the tide, what it held, attending ceremonies.

A curious idea then came to her. Perhaps she could do something similar here. Oh she'd learn to swim all right, but only after taking time to adjust to the cold climates. However, in the meantime she'd nurture this area, protect it from foreign invaders. Poptart imagined all the things she could do, creating homes for new species, tending to the grounds. And thus she became the Tender of the Lake.
