Lives: Starwood Strand - A seemingly quaint and cozy lair extending from the edge of the crystal wall. It manages to be visible from both the Arcane and Plague side, acting as a refuge for the injured, weary, or even just lonely.

Those in need feel a calling or urge to enter, as if the lair itself is beckoning them in. On top of this, Jovial never turns down a visitor. He may even forcefully take those soon-to-be-lost from the Starwood Strand or Wandering Contagion's dangers.

Those who come inside find themselves surprised - on the inside, the lair is much more expansive than one would think, extending well into the crystal wall it's attached to. Lots of the space is dedicated to the living room and guests' bedrooms. There's even a quarantine back there! ...Though the medicinal area of his home is still being renovated.

The interior of his lair is in darker colors - like the homeowner himself - and is decorated with mended, donated, and bought furniture. While some pieces stand out, Jovial likes to recolor some of his furniture to match his lair. The windows grant some amazing views and light, though the hallways are more sporadically lit. Nonetheless, Jovial (or sometimes a long-term guest) is happy to give you a tour.

Affiliations: Neutral Likes: Listening to others, especially stories or tales; practicing Arcane magic; caring for others; organization; his hat :); the stars; quiet nights As a hatchling, Jovial made those soap potions, to the dismay of his parents. <3 He still likes to do it sometimes, especially as a genuine magic and potion enthusiast. Dislikes: Conflict and stress; isolation; disrupting peace without a reason; major Focal Point shifts, as they could disrupt his lair Jovial will ensure that his lair is a place of peace, no matter who's staying. It's part of why he hones his magical skills. A good way to become his enemy is to start fights in his home.

Personality: While he looks gothic, and may seem reclusive or aloof because of it, Jovial is upbeat and sociable. He tries to be amicable and to give everyone respect. Due to his home becoming a refuge for the weary, he's been shedding his past alignments, deciding to be totally neutral. No matter who comes in, he'll offer them a helping hand, even if they have a bad reputation.

But don't get things mixed - he still knows when to stand his ground. He prefers to be diplomatic and talk things out, but if push comes to shove, he'll defend himself with Arcane magic. Still, he tries not to hurt others and finds the act unnecessary.

Although he helps others out of kindness, he's aware that having favors from those in power or on the darker side of Sornieth is very useful. It both gives you an advantage when you need one and keeps you out of harm's way. He's cashed in these favors quite a few times - but usually for mundane things, like having someone powerful send over a wealth of books for his personal reading.

Good luck getting him to admit things like that, though, even if you're staying a while. His walls are well-guarded, and shared secrets can be dangerous.

Matcha 2/17/24 - Current "...Oh, what are you doing wandering all the way out here..?" A surprising find by Jovial. Matcha is surprisingly well-behaved, and is a good spot for Faes and Veilspun to hang out at. Sometimes emerges from the lair's halls with all kinds of crystals draped around it's crests. But some wonder: is it just clumsy in the crystal rooms, or is it the work of a guest?

Jovial lost his parents in an Arcane magical disaster, leaving him injured and without shelter. He managed to wander along the edge of the Scarred Wasteland, surviving off the wildlife and help from other lost dragons.

Eventually, he stumbled across an abandoned lair carved into the giant crystal wall. It felt as if... he was made for it; like it wanted him there. It came at the perfect opportunity - just when his wounds were becoming too much to endlessly walk on. He gladly entered his new home.

He used the space to survive and let his injuries heal, slowly expanding and refining the lair over time. Coatls have no natural skill at this, but he had plenty of time on his hands and plenty of crystal for trial-and-error. This cave in the rock soon became a refuge for others to heal and rest.

But even though his lair is a refuge for others, he's never come to total peace with what happened to him, nor the relationships he maintains with more immoral dragons. It's like he can't control them: his emotions flip from rage and resentment to drowning in grief, with regular lapses of total emptiness, like he had been drained of everything he had.

He tells no one. He could never. He could never waver. Not for his guests, not for his parents, not for anyone...

When it all becomes too overwhelming, he hides in the darker areas of his home - his personal bedroom, a mini-lair of its own. He likes to wander the halls to clear his head. When he does, though... it feels as if the very walls... No, the crystals behind them, are pulling him deeper into the dark.

It's a calling: "Come closer," "we will listen," "we will comfort you, for no one else will."
