Plum

Lore outline:

Plum's egg was misplaced only days before she hatched. By some miracle of the Glademother, her egg was unharmed, even as it found it's way into a large shipment of engineering supplies, having been misplaced and knocked around the careless dragons of a very busy clan. Abandoned eggs were common to them, unfortunately.

The shipment of metals wound up all over Sornieth in pieces, one piece hiding a very valuable little treasure. When it was delivered to Lelli, she thought nothing of it. She was a very busy engineering dragon. Her mind raced and she stumbled around her little shack, knocking things over as per usual. The guardians psywurm familiar sniffed curiously at the parcel Lelli had received.

"What's that, Fio?" She asked him, knowing that her familiar wasn't usually easily interested in packages.

The psywurm pawed at the top. Lelli hesitated, there were other more important things to worry about at the moment. But his continued interested peaked her own and she clawed open the top of the parcel carefully.

At first, all she could see were the usual things. Gears, springs, new pieces of scrap metal and bolts. A few new tools she had needed. But then she had to take a second glance before turning away. There was a leaf. A small, shiny new leaf, poking out through the pieces of metal. And then, she heard the unmistakable sound. The tiny crack of an egg hatching.

Lelli panicked a bit as she lifted the engineering supplies out of the box quickly, digging out the little egg that was quickly splitting open. She took the spherical nature pod into her claws and watched as it fell to pieces, a brand new fae hatchling unfurling in her giant hands. It's eyes opened wide and blinked at the harsh light coming from Lelli's work station. Then it's gaze turned to her and the guardian felt the familiar surging feeling of motherhood that she had felt with her own children.

"Hello, beautiful," she cooed, a smile spreading wide on her guardian maw. She bent her head down to nuzzle the tiny hatchling ever so gently with her nose. The fae nuzzled back and made a very satisfied purr.

Lelli decided to call her Plum. The entire clan was surprised to hear of her arrival but everyone was more concerned about who she'd ended up with rather than how she'd ended up there. Lelli was known as the clumsiest dragon in the clan, despite being the clan's strongest engineer. She was careless, ditzy, often forgetting where her feet would land before they hit the ground. Her tail was a death cleaver and her wings more so. Everyone in the clan feared for the tiny, delicate, newly-born fae now in her care.

But they were soon proven wrong. With Plum, Lelli was especially careful. She built her a loft of sorts, high along the wall in her study, so that the little female was never within squishing range. And as Plum grew, she was careful as well. Her mother was large, and as she observed, very in-her-own-head. The two were a fantastic pair in looking out for each other. Plum spent the nights sleeping with Fio, curled up in her loft. He had taken an especially strong liking to her.
