⚜ Nikolai⚜

"Worry not, my dear. I will take care of you."

- - - - - - - - - -

Being born into a large clan, Nikolai was no stranger to being around many many dragons at once. Despite growing up in such a sizable clan, Niko yearned for a quiet, peaceful place that she could call her own and that she didn't have to share with any other dragons. In her birth clan everything was shared, so when she heard from a traveling merchant of a new clan that had arisen in the Arcanist's territory, Niko started considering leaving. The only thing that held her back was the idea of leaving her friends... She knew she would miss them dearly, but what other choice did she have? She knew she would be unhappy if she stayed where she was. Her introverted, zen personality was suffocated by the rambunctious group that made up her birth clan.

After long days of dwelling on her options, Nikolai confronted her parents and told them her intentions. They were sad to see her go, but they supported their daughter and her decision. With that announcement out of the way, Nikolai packed up the few belongings that she could truly call her own, and she bid farewell to her friends. Her journey wouldn't be extraordinarily long or dangerous, so she was relieved of that stress. The stress of actually finding the clan that the merchant had mentioned was something that nagged at her though. The Arcanist's territory was vast with lots of places that could conceal an entire clan with ease. Nikolai only hoped that she wouldn't end up lost alone in a strange territory that she had never been in before.

Nikolai started her journey on the ground. She was a proficient flier, but she enjoyed walking, and it gave her the opportunity to find more little trinkets. She had a small collection tucked safely away in the bag that was strapped around her waist, but she never wanted to pass a chance to find more little doodads.

Nikolai remained on foot for a good few days. Her pace was leisurely and relaxed, and she stopped to rest whenever she felt the need to. She was in no rush. The new clan would surely be there when she arrived.

After the few days on foot, Nikolai finally took to the skies. It felt good to fly, and she felt a feeling of freedom and joy swell in her chest as she soared through the air, using the warm drafts to keep herself aloft. As she flew, Nikolai occasionally looked down at the ground below her. She watched the earth pass by beneath her, and then suddenly it gave way to crystal blue water. She had finally reached the Starfall Isles.

Excited by her arrival, and feeling a bit hungry, Nikolai opted to land and look for some food. She had run out of the meager supplies her parents had provided her, so she had been scavenging for herself for the past week. The task didn't daunt her though... She knew which plants and insects were good to eat and which were not due to the experience she had with healing dragons in her birth clan.

Nikolai scavenged around the area she had landed in. She found many insects that she snacked on, but she didn't actually sit down to relax until she found a large tree covered in ivy. She pulled long vines of it down and settled onto her hind legs to eat. As she munched on the leaves, she caught notice of a small, but identifiable energy. There was another dragon near her. It was small though.. Perhaps a lost hatchling? Out of curiosity and concern for the could-be hatchling, Nikolai got up and approached the area where she sensed the energy. When she got there, she saw nothing though. After a brief moment of analyzing the area, Nikolai turned around to leave.

The Skydancer returned to her ivy vines, but when she did she saw that she had company. A small, pink Fae dragon was picking around in the pile of vines, apparently searching for something.

"Excuse me..." Nikolai said softly, crouching down next to her pile of ivy.

The Fae started and turned around to look up at Nikolai. "Oh, is this ivy yours? I promise I'm not eating it, I'm just looking for bugs to eat. I've been out looking for herbs all day and I wanted a snack before I returned to my clan." She explained, the frills around her head waving a little as she spoke.

Nikolai didn't know much about Fae dragons... There were few to none in the region she lived in, so she never learned how they communicated. She only knew that their words weren't very expressive, and they communicated primarily with the frills on their head. However, this little Fae seemed to speak with plenty of emotion in her words... An oddity she must be then.

"I wouldn't mind sharing my food anyways. There is plenty to be shared." The Skydancer said, picking up a vine that wasn't as close to the Fae. She plucked an oddly large insect off of the vine and offered it to the Fae.

The pink dragon perked up and took the bug from between Nikolai's talons. "Thank you! I was hoping to find one of these! They're my favorites." She chirped before slurping down the bug. "By the way, I'm Sacha, healer of the clan that recently established here. Who are you?"

"I'm Nikolai. I recently left my birth clan in search of the new clan that started here though... Lucky me that I met you then, Sacha." Nikolai said, biting a few ivy leaves off the vine.

"Oh, how exciting!" Sacha said, the frills around her neck folded forward, making her head look like it was mounted on a vibrant pink wall. "You can come back to the lar with me! I'm certain that Incana will be pleased to have you join us. We don't have a lot of room, but we're saving up our treasure to bring to the Arcanist so we can get more space." The little Fae chittered, talking with so much energy that it made the antennae on Nikolai's head buzz a little.

"I would love that opportunity. Thank you, Sacha."
