The wind howled through the barren trees, fewer and farther from one another as she approached the longer stretches of icy void. The desolate flatlands that reveled in silence pierced by the heartrending crack of cliffs shearing off the edge and breaking upon the waves as the world melted around her. This wild was one of extremes that none envied her exploration of, a wild that was violent even in its quiet moments, but she loved it all the same. Because amid the fear, there was awe-inspiring majesty, miracles frozen in time just beneath her furclad feet. Easy enough to dismiss the arctic for its bleak winters, but she saw the way the stars reflected in the ice and multiplied and fought the darkest hours. The aurora borealis were far more beautiful than any words could convey, breathtaking in all the ways that had her enchanted. The sirensong had never been myth to her, the call of the wild hers to follow.
