Born on Valentine's Day, Roma often found his birthday parties were given a red color scheme. The cake might often have a red heart on it. Though the holiday of love would be celebrated far and wide, Roma's parents made sure he knew that their love for him was what they celebrated that day.
Is it any wonder Roma paid more attention to love relationships around him, enjoyed dabbling in bringing together friends he just knew, deep in his heart, were meant for each other? At first it was only a friend here and there, but then he started seeing matches between other dragons in the lair, and quietly arranged matters so two dragons would meet. Soon word spread and lonely dragons would come to him seeking mates to give their life meaning.
Roma realized he needed to help these dragons. Who wanted to go through life without ever finding a good partner? Deep down, he often despaired of ever finding a partner himself. Oh, he'd always be smiling and entertaining to those around him, but he often wondered where to find his own partner in life.
He set up a lounge of sorts in the market, a nice comfortable cozy shop to put the clients at ease. Sometimes it would be a parent, a sibling, a friend, and he would work his magic and help them help their friend and family member anyway. He just couldn't resist, it was a calling. It was a flutter in his own heart when he knew two dragons were meant to be together.
One day, there was entertainment going on in the market and he paused to watch, suddenly captivated by the performer, a fiery tundra dancing and twirling. She brought out a ball of fire on a chain, and twirled it in front of her, framing her exotic costume in orange streaks of flame, and then around her, bathing her plumed costume in an orange glow. His heart fluttered so badly, he could not move. He knew, in a single blink of an eye, that that tundra was his match.
She put on a show in the marketplace every day at the same time, and Roma would be there with a hefty donation to her tip jar. When it rained and she could not light her fire pots, she would simply dance, or tell stories. Her smile and delight in entertaining the crowd was intoxicating to him. He was always the last of the crowd to leave. And Pepper noticed.
The two dragons talked every day as Pepper put away her juggling knives and props, her fire props and tip basket, and soon the two ate meals together. On the next Valentine's Day, Pepper was the only one invited to Roma's Birthday Party. He asked her to be his love, his mate, and his heart.
