Biography

Whispers trailed after Calanthe everywhere she went. Nothing could compare to how terrible it was except the way they stared at her. Everywhere she went, the other dragons in her lair watched her with a strange expression, frowning as they muttered amongst themselves. "She's the silent one, isn't she?" they would whisper, glancing at her from the corner of their eyes. "The one cursed by the wind spirits." Calanthe didn't mean to be quiet, wanting to communicate just as much as any other dragon. It was just that she really couldn't. From the moment she hatched, the birds had been whistling and singing melodious tunes, gliding past her with a cheerful chirp of greeting. Calanthe always wanted to join them, opening her mouth to join them. Every single time, she felt a horrible gagging feeling, pain rippling down her throat. She felt suffocated, panting heavily for breath. It was just that she had no breath! Mourning and sadness clouded her eyes as she gave up all hope of joining the symphony of the world around her, shuddering at the frigid isolation she felt. It was silent... It was just too silent. Calanthe wanted to shriek, roaring at the world for the longing ache in her heart that will never go away. She can be loud! She was not cursed! Just then, a timid, little songbird hesitantly whistled a quiet note in the crisp, morning air, catching the dragon's attention as it struggled in a tangle of ferns. Calanthe blinked, tears willing in the depths of her light blue eyes as a breathy huff of air escaped her in an attempt to reassure the bird. There was still no sound. She bent down, parting the fronds with her talons. She gingerly grasped the leaves in her mouth to untangle it from the bluebird's wings. As it chirped in thanks, a flock of birds emerged from the surrounding forests to circle around Calanthe gratefully. Maybe she did have friends in the world. Perhaps she wasn't quite alone. She didn't have to speak to belong, joining with together with the fluttering birds, who accepted her as family. A solemn smile twitched across her face as she took flight with the songbirds, gliding to the distant, blue horizon beyond as a melodic song chanted an endless tune within the depths of her heart. |
Theme Song - Speak by Ben Abraham
I reach out with my fingers
And try to pull the letters back in line
But your words spin out of order
And the pounding in my chest is out of time
But I just want to speak
I just want to say something
I just want to speak
I just want to say something
Can anybody hear me?
I reach out with my fingers
And try to pull the letters back in line
But your words spin out of order
And the pounding in my chest is out of time
But I just want to speak
I just want to say something
I just want to speak
I just want to say something
Can anybody hear me?
