What was unusual (hahaha) about Aurum was that she took an interest in metallurgy since she was a hatching. What was even more unusual was her “gift" with metals: her ability to shape crude ores into prized, shining pieces of jewellery. It wasn't just her birth element that helped her pick and shape only the best. It was her extended element.

Metal, to be precise. Once she fine-tuned her power, she could sense all sorts of metal and gems within a hundred-meter radius, and summon it to her. Her parents thought her valuable, and the poor young Aurum was forced to summon metals and fashion them into shining pieces of jewellery, then was sold by whatever dragon came along to their Clan. Feeling that she was being used, Aurum escaped.
