 Clan of the Twisted Root gets its name from the thick, gnarled roots separating its territory from Ironwood proper; the undergrowth creating a sort of wall keeping its dead trees and sparse growth contained and quarantined from the rest of the surrounding land. Only true survivors exist in this reverse oasis, able to thrive where much else dies.
This group of Plague-Flight dragons have garnered a sort of uneasy truce from Serron, Ironwood Clan's Leader. The two Progenitors who initially carved out this space were originally from Plague, migrating to the Viridian Labyrinth after a long journey through the Twisting Crescendo, and as time passed, the Progenitors left only the barrier of twisted roots behind. Serron, wishing not to offend true dedicated servants of the Plaguemother, as she was for the Gladekeeper, considered the history between the two deities and struck a deal with the Plague dragons.
They could continue inhabiting the space and benefit from the enchanted barrier of protection around Ironwood, and the Clan of the Twisted Root brings back kill and spoils from their hunting and foraging trips. Ironwood dragons and Clan of the Twisted Root dragons do not interact, except to speak with Serron in matters of diplomacy and territorial disputes, as well as official communicationd from Ironwood Clan.
