The day this hatchling was born, a storm reigned over the Light territory. The caretaker of his nest quickly ushered his two siblings deeper into the cave, afraid of letting them stroll about while lightning flashed and thunder roared.
Aalok emerged from his egg a few hours after the sun should have risen, and as soon as he scrambled out of the egg, eager to know his family, the storm eased, finally letting some sunlight shine on the newborns.
For this, he was named Aalok, the light of the Lightweaver, and sent to Penelope, the current Light Envoy of Idha's clan. She would teach him about the magic of his birth and the power the Light allowed him to wield.

As soon as he arrived in Idha's clan, Aalok attached himself to Kirill, the archivist and record keeper.He delighted in hearing about any story, whether they were about the clan, the world of Sornieth or simply fairy tales meant to amuse a hatchling. Penelope learnt to roll her eyes whenever someone asked about her wayward student, and, when Idha asked why she was letting him run from his studies, only said that having such a thirst for knowledge was a respectable goal. He'd come to her when he was ready, she added.
