Kalestryx was originally part of a far away clan in the Shifting Expanse, working as a guard and a caretaker for the hatchlings. She was born there, the daughter of the two leaders of that clan, but she always wanted to find out more about the rest of the world. She lived in her home clan for years, growing up to be quite timid and obedient. Her only friend was a similar outcast named Eiafi; neither of them quite felt that the Stormcatcher and his relentless push for productivity were what they wanted. Her life changed when a heartbroken Coeus wandered across their clan, staying for a couple of months. She loved listening to his stories about the world. She'd only had limited experience of the auction house, the trading post, the coliseum, so Coeus taught her everything he knew. Her feelings towards him quickly became romantic, and after some time, he began to return her affections. After his arrival, the clan was struck with a sudden famine, leaving the dragons ill and weak. They blamed Coeus for the bad luck, driving him out of the clan. As much as Kalestryx begged, they didn't let her leave with him, and she had to watch him leave forever. She tried to spend her time as she used to, but she couldn't stop thinking about Coeus and the world he'd told her about. Eventually she just packed her bags one night and left for the expanse. She spent days flying through the charged landscape until she couldn't fly any more. She collapsed in the shade of a hill. On waking up she noticed a camp set up around her, with a small tent a metre or so away. She slowly got up, her limbs aching, and gingerly opened the tent flap. Inside, to her immense surprise, she found Coeus, mixing some tea for her. He explained that he'd found her lying in a ravine, and decided to help her. They travelled back to his home clan together, where Kalestryx, under Coeus' guidance became braver and more confident, taking on a role of advisor beside him. After Pandora's coup, she also took more time to explore the gods and their values, no longer feeling bound to either Arcane or Lightning. She found comfort in the Icewarden, a deity of calm and rebirth, which she felt was appropriate to her new lifestyle.
