FOSTON
Oracle of the Icewarden

A normal day for any young dragon would have been a delight to what the tiny Ice child was experiencing now. He burst out of his small egg and blinked, looking up into the coldest pair of eyes he would ever see. A shadow pressed past his parents and frowned down at the baby. "He's very small Blizzard. Why?" The giant male shook his head, showing his front teeth as a female coatl, the little ones mother, sighed and cared for the other children..but not him. He squeaked in hunger but his cries were ignored. The ghost easily picked him up and carried him over to a different dragon that the child couldn't describe because the next moment he was shoved into a crate and enclosed into darkness. He cried out, wanting a mother or a father but his cries fell on deaf ears. Then the child felt a sudden surge of anger. Why was he treated so differently then his siblings? Why was he being taken and not them!? He opened his mouth and a marvelous and deadly thing occurred. Instead of the magical fires that all dragons breathed, a stream of bone shattering ice spewed from the little ones mouth, coating the inside of the crate with cold ice. It apparently reached the outside too because not a second later, a loud roar echoed through the crate and the little dragon felt the box begin to drop. "NO!" He heard a deep guttural voice bellow and the baby began to slam himself into the sides of the crate. Then, with a horrible cracking, the crate hit a rock and shattered, throwing the hatchling sideways and into a thick bank of snow. The baby stayed still as he heard screeching and bellowing, the sound of an obviously very angry dragon. There was a crunch and loud snap then...silence. Hours seemed to pass but the little dragon stayed perfectly still, fearful he could get caught but also curious as to why...he wasn't cold. This is a very curious thing because normal hatchlings, even ones born of ice, needed the warmth of a mothers brooding but him...he felt completely comfortable in the sub-zero temperatures. He waited a little longer before pushing his snout up and peeking out of the bank. He had landed at the edge of a large forest, or what looked like a forest. Then babies attention was suddenly caught by a small rodent snuffling around. Quicker then any hatchling the tundra had ever seen, the little boy pounced on the meal and swallowed it whole, humming. That, however, was a terrible mistake. The earth shook and the baby squeaked, trying to dive back into his snow pile but mighty jaws grabbed his tail and lifted him up. The baby screamed but the huge beast took no mercy. It shook the child then hurled him into a tree, snarling. He got up and refused to let himself be thrown around. He opened his mouth again and was delighted when the monster of a dragon gave out a noise of surprise as his front claw was frozen to the ground. The dragon, however, instead of growing angrier, began to laugh and shake his head. "Well I'll be little child. I cannot believe, after all my time searching, that my new oracle would be a ferocious baby far away from his parents." The baby was frozen in disbelief as the giant easily pulled his large claw from from the ice, shaking off shards from his fur. Then he scooped up the baby and pressed his forehead against his. There was a burst of light and everything went black.
When the child awoke, he jolted up, finding himself near a large river. He crawled over and drank the icy cold water, soon feeling refreshed. Who was that giant dragon and what in the world had he done to him? He then heard a low hoot and looked up to see a rather large feathery thing sitting in the tree above him. It flapped its wings and hooted once more, the noise slightly hallow due to the fact its face was covered in a mask that had a weird symbol on it. He tried to get up but he realized his little wings were now ringed with beautiful ice crystal and chains wreathed them and his tail. "Hedwig?!" Called a smooth, pleasant voice. The owl creature screeched and fluttered down to the baby. He tried to make the bird be quiet but it was too late, as the ghostly figure wrapped in warm furs hurried over, gasping. "Oh dear! Don't worry little one! Brimstone!!" Something about the geist caused the child to relax even as a large dragon covered in cloth tatters and clanking bones slithered over, his tongue flicking and tasting the air. The glowing emblem above his head caused his four red eyes to glitter as he studied the child. "Let's get him back to the clan. Warm him up so we can get those icicles off." The child could to nothing to defend himself as the geist picked him up and lifted him onto Brimstones back. The geist got on behind the baby and Brimstone took off, followed by the masked owl. The landscape below changed from water, red earth and finally a mass of what looked like a moving earth. They landed in a deserted plain, or what the baby thought was deserted. The bigger dragon ducked into a large cave and crawled quickly down an immense tunnel before emerging into a vast cavern. A large fire burned in the middle of the cavern and huge tunnels branched off in different directions, signs that the baby couldn't read telling where they went. Two dragons sat by the fire and looked up, ready to greet the returning party but froze, their eyes on the small hatchling. The little one stared back, his pale eyes wide. The smaller one was a female nocturne, her whole body tattooed in what looked like huge flames. She wore bronze mechanical wings and steampunk clothing. A sputtering phoenix played in the flames in front of her. The other was a skydancer, little bigger in size and a very pretty green color. She wore long golden robes, a mask that covered her face, and bright golden lanterns danced around her wings. She looked up from stroking a worm-like creature that rested between her dainty claws, its smooth body almost the exact same shade as his mistresses. "Pruthyra, dear, this child needed immediate incubation." Said the geist as she slid off Brimstone, carrying the baby over to the nocturne and dropping him before her. "Yes ma'am." Pruthyra answered and was about to cover the child in her wings when in gave out a loud pained screech. "NO! NO FIRE!" It cried and the mother flopped backward, stunned. The baby then breathed a circle of solid ice around himself and sat in the middle of it, nestling into the comforting chill. "What?" Whispered the flame nocturne as she gave the geist a confused and horrified look. "Scarlet...What kind of creature is this because it certainly isn't a dragon." The geist shook her head and a serious look crossed her face as she shed her furs, revealing a very skinny body underneath. Brimstone pulled a large cloak from his back and threw it over Scarlet, covering her fragile looking body. "This baby is a dragon Pruthyra but...not an ordinary one. I believe we have discovered the Oracle of the Icewarden." The skydancer gasped and suddenly held her head in her claws, a low keening noise filling the air. Her familiar snarled and began to writhe, feeling the pain of his bond. Brimstone hurried over and held the mistress, keeping her upright so she didn't fall into the fire. "What is it Butterbean!? What do you see?!" A moment passed before she relaxed and she looked up, moving her veil to reveal her electric blue eyes. "You are right Scarlet...Please welcome the Oracle of Ice into the clan."

As Foston grew, it became clear he was ancient and wise beyond his years. He is extraordinarily smart and capable of solving complicated problems and riddles. He studied non-stop with Butterbean and bonded with the Spirit of Ice, Hedwig. He adores his familiar and seeks to give it the best of his meals and the neatest den he could create. He found love in a beautiful and reckless nocturne named Whiskey, which Scarlet brought into the clan just for him. Quiet and imposing, he always seeks utter perfection and won't settle for anything less. He also hates any kind of heat and keeps his and Whiskey's den at approximately -50 degrees. One random occasions, he will disappear for several days to the lands of the Icewarden, but never tells what he's doing. Many suspect he seeks his parents, bent on revenge for abandoning him when he needed them the most, and others believe he's having highly important meeting with the Icewarden himself.
