Biography
Despite being far younger than the clan's original founders dragons, Nyris has lived here longer than the rest, and she has a vast knowledge of the Sea of a Thousand Currents and has spent her entire life exploring the Tsunami Flats. In the early days of the clan, she acted as the Deepwing's guide in exchange for the protection of Langhar and Wavemaster.
Sprung from the waves of the Sea itself, Nyris wandered the Tsunami Flats alone, occasionally meeting and mingling with the quiet, gentle Mirror dragon Vulka. Unlike most Guardians, Nyris had made no vow of protection when she first met Langhar, and instead spent her days travelling the Sea of a Thousand Currents, whispering the prophecies she hears in their waters.
In the early days of the clan, Nyris found a precocious young Pearlcatcher hatchling named Agharna and took her under her wing, taking her Guardian vow to protect Agharna with her life. She did her best to mediate the damage Langhar was doing to the clan, but when the scandal of Wavemaster's affair was made public, there was nothing she could do. Although she survived the Revolution itself, she was murdered by Ylva during the latter's trial.
However, to everyone's shock - including her own - she awoke on the edge of the Fishspine Reef, next to her beloved Vulka, just as they had been when the Tidelord had first formed them from the waters of the sea. The pair traveled back to Deepwing lands, stunning everyone with their miraculous return, and were welcomed back with open wings.
As the Deepwing clan expanded, Agharna began to look for new territory to support the clan. Having sent out Trench and her party in search of new frontiers, Agharna turned to Nyris for her support in petitioning the Tidelord for rights to expand into the Leviathan Trench. Nyris agreed, and the two set out alongside Leviathan (a native of the Spiral Keep) to petition the Tidelord's court.
When Nyris returned from the grueling journey (which had found nothing but an empty keep and no God to answer them), she found the clan in ruins. Quickly, she rallied anyone she could find against the ravages of Vengeance, but only after Nokk and Ambrose returned from the Worldsea were they able to beat the monster back through the Twisting Maw. When Nokk took the throne, Nyris retook her old position on the Council as an advisor on divine and magical matters, and a mentor and exemplar for all the mages of Deepwing.
When Undertide dragons revealed themselves to the wider world, Nyris revealed her true form as one of their number - having maintained her Guardian shape through powerful magic since her adolescence in order to explore Sornieth beyond the Deep.
