The transit's third brood were tailed by murmured unrest among most of the crew, it in turn drawing the attention of the pragmatic mercenaries that linger under the same employment as they. With their parents as occupied as ever in the subway cars that may as well be another layer of their own skin, the hatchlings were tended to and taught to be as emotionally detached as the cronies they answered to, their conditioning serving as collateral for a debt yet repaid.

Her head is held high, her wings spreading their triumphant crimson upon stretched scales. Her parting jaws warn not of an impending bite, but of the massive well of magic that threatens to spill forth from her vibrant throat, of noxious acids and sludge that froth and corrode indiscriminately. Her potential unbound by casters consumed by their own elemental magic, the eldest of the clutch is often given a wide berth, conversations halted as to avoid stirring her ire.
