Biography
Whispers float through the trees of a Guardian who once fancied himself the leader of Nightmire. Some speak of him in contempt as the dragon who collapsed as the old city did and disappeared, leaving the residents scrambling to pick up the pieces. Others speak of him only with pity, knowing him as the protector who fought tooth and claw for their old home, his charge, only to be crushed under the weight of an Emperor's onslaught. ‘He can’t be blamed,’ they say, ‘it’s told even the gods fear those monsters there was nothing anyone could do.’ Only he knows his efforts. The scattered writings of past dragons that had been found, the signs of oncoming disaster that nobody beastclan nor serpent managed to string together in time. The hours he spent wrestling with the fact he had created and fostered the city that had brought all to live on ground that was cursed to doom them from the beginning. Draven would make up for his mistakes in his own way, banishing himself from the comforts of society with only what he had on his back, his hounds his only companions. He swore as the home he loved rebuilt itself among the flora that as long as he had the energy to fight, he would never let another danger reach its doorstep. In the interim Draven has become nigh unrecognizable, his outfit torn and threadbare, beard chopped to nothing, and his once-gilded pinstriped scales so dulled and laden with scars that it's hard to tell where it ends and his markings begin. It matters little to Draven, as few ever see the Guardian since the survivors of the Emperor fled to the Glademother’s domain- the occasional rattling of beads or the disembodied howl of a Wraith hound from the glade the majority of his presence, as he survives off the land. Despite his ghost-like presence as of recent it’s common knowledge of the oldest residents that Draven is never too far away, his fate tied too intimately with Nightmire’s for the once-prideful dragon to abandon it.
