Jaspers

The significantly more timid twin brother of Lalonde, Jaspers fled with his sister once it became apparent she was going to be banished. As children both had been singled out as particularly talented mages. While Lalonde always stole the spotlight with her incredible power and combat abilities, Jaspers felt unimportant and forgotten, practicing his healing and skill boosting spells. His low self-esteem made Jaspers fairly meek, and this caused him to be singled out by other hatchlings his age. They bullied him incessantly when Lalonde wasn't near, making much of his life misery.

Jaspers took solace in his solitude, often sneaking away to practice healing injured creatures he found in the forest. Through this, he came to realize how valuable his skills were. He might not be able to do anything flashy like Lalonde, but he could help people. He could save lives. This realization was a turning point in his life, and he finally revealed to his sister what horrible things their peers had been doing to him. In her rage, she confronted them, and in the ensuing battle revealed her use of forbidden magics. Jaspers was devastated at first, how could she? But as he realized she was either going to be put to death or banished, he stood by her, arguing for banishment over death. When the verdict came he forced his company upon Lalonde, and followed her through all her wandering.
