______ Sen had always been worried about his eyes. Rare, blue eyes ran in a line across his sides, standing out against his red body. His parents were accepting, yes, but he could see the looks on their faces when they thought he wasn't looking. He couldn't stop looking. He saw everything: every look, snigger, cringe or outright glare. He shut his eyes tightly for as long as he could. He didn't want to see anymore.

______ These gazes didn't stop when he moved to clan ruka; rather, they intensified. He was the only dragon they had ever seen with eyes like his, and he was tried to keep them shut, until he met with the kindly old Imperial Manafall who saw his potential as a lookout, and Sen's world changed. His eyes were no longer a curse, they were a blessing. There were things only he could do. He was proud of his eyes for the first time, and the gazes he saw were now kindly as he gained his title of 'The Eyes of Clan Ruka'. The dragons of his new clan were no longer afraid, and any dragons born with unusual eyes would be hailed as unique and special, with abilities only they could do.
