Velvetina

Velvetina was born of Ivorn and Squawktalk. From her birth, she had difficulties seeing through the murk of the Shadowbinder's realm- her nearsightedness made anything not right in front of her appear as a blur of color. She tagged close by her parents, recognizing them by their bright colors, even among her blurred vision. As a result of her impaired vision, she became used to navigating with lack of sight.
Over time, she found joy in supporting the clan by mulling over complex thoughts- the hard questions, like whether breeding should be done, whether pairs loved each other or not, or what to put on your venison sandwich. She declared her ward to be the library of tomes they had, which contained knowledge she could not get enough of. Reading them was a favorite pasttime, especially since her nearsightedness did not interfere when she could keep the tomes close to her eyes.
Over time, she found out, regrettably, that she had developed cataracts- and her vision was progressively being distorted. She could not bear the thought of watching as she could no longer see her clanmates, or heaven forbid, her children before she could have had them, and simply elected to blindfold herself and shroud herself in coverings. She could no longer read as she once had, and now she merely guarded the tomes, unable to truly appreciate them anymore. She did not want the others to see her weakening frame as she lost the ability to venture out alone, and decided to cover the rest of herself, so they may not see her wither either. She remains in the library, pining away and reminiscing what she had previously read.
