He is an outsider to many, as his appearance tends to alienate most dragons of the region, but his clan seems to accept him as one of their own. This dragon's name is Nusku, and he is the Fire ambassador for the Arael clan. A clan in the Southern Icefields is not the typical home a dragon from the Molten Scar usually chooses, yet here Nusku is anyway. Therefore, when he first arrived in the area, this young Skydancer tended draw a great many eyes to himself. This never swayed the adventurous dragon, however. Although he had learned the craft ways of the Fire dragons, he had never been drawn by the lure of it like so many of his original clan had been, and he instead decided to venture out into the world to see what it offered. Despite the Southern Icefield being one of the closest regions to his homeland, it was the last stop in his journey around the world. The thought of visiting such a land so opposite of the one he knew best was intimidating, and the tales of the dragons that lived there deterred him. After spending his first few years traveling through the other nations and learning about the dragons in those territories, he finally reached the destination he had been putting off for as long as he could: The Southern Icefield. It was as harsh, cold, and desolate as the tales told. The dragons here seemed to hide or retreat into their dens when he came near. Nusku's first impressions of the Icewarden's domain were not positive. After spending a few weeks, he decided to go back to his clan in the Molten Scar, the one place where he thought he'd be able to at least rest for some time after all his travels. Spending so little time in this domain worked against Nusku, however. The inexperienced dragon went the wrong way and found himself lost, deep in the Cloudscape Crags amidst a winter storm. He was sheltering in a small cave he had found when there was a small chirp at the entrance. There was a Nocturne dragon standing there and looking at him. From her ice blue eyes, he knew she was of this region. Thinking she wanted shelter too, he moved over to give her as much room as she could. Then, a shadow fell over the entrance of the cave, and the next thing he knew there was a grey mass outside, looking in on him with a single, golden eye. It was a Guardian dragon of the Sunbeam Ruins. This dragon and his Nocturne companion were from the Snowsquall Tundra, which was not far away from where they were. They brought him back to their clan, fed him, and showed such hospitality that after a few months, Nusku decided to call this place home. |
