To that end, she's been recruiting a band of fighters loyal to her. they make sure all the truly valuable finds come to her instead of the traders, and they keep the dupes in the settlement out of her way.
Though, this 'Prophet' might prove to be problematic, and her little pets make her nearly untouchable. Those creepy not-dragons make Varail's skin crawl, but one of her underlings with ties to the black market mentioned them being valuable. It might be worth trying to get some of this 'assimilation fluid' and seeing if it's as useful as rumor claims.
