She'd always been taught to be curious, push limits, and make new discoveries. Yet when she was full grown, putting forward ideas for possible tests she was told it was 'too far' or 'serving no purpose'. To be happy with what magic she could naturally coax forward instead of working to improve, or enhance it.

Clearly they forgot how their god worked. How his curiosity and drive were why they all existed in the first place, why the Eleven were all active again. It was change, progress, and if some did not like it? They should be left behind as the world moved forward. Cowards.

The dragons of Plague understood, the way they cut out places to live in a harsh landscape and take any advantage they could.

So she'd left the Starfall Isles, winging off to work on her theory without a chorus of 'don't be the one to awaken the Shade'. At first she'd had to stay within quarantine areas, slowly learning the tricks to keep the rampant contagions from beating her down. The Plague dragons seemed more willing to help as she started wearing the skull on her face, if it was because it hid her Arcane nature or just because it matched their style, she couldn't complain about the result.

Of course, the main plan was to make it out there, without a protective zone. She had an idea, that the presence of Plague dragons would reduce the impact of the environment, or they might empower it. So when a clan was looking for a dragon to escort some unwanted away and keep an eye on them, she'd leapt at the chance.

Either they'd help her until she no longer required them, or they'd help improve her magic with the extra burden of their presence. After all, returning them wasn't part of the contract, and she was already paid in full...
