Sigourney is completely blind, but very few notice. Only Tāne, Vesper, Ranginui and Domino know. Over the years she has trained herself to use her keen olfactory senses and her excellent hearing to navigate and perform tasks, and her familiar Timber or Tāne assist her discreetly when she needs it.
Ranginui rescued Sigourney as a day-old hatchling from a slavetrader band at the edge of Rotrock Rim. In the battle, her head was wounded, and although the wound healed she lost her sight forever. Nobody knows what happened to her parents but it's assumed that she was stolen from the nest as an egg by the raiders, rather than abandoned or sold to them.
She was the first witch of the clan, discovering her magical talent at the tender age of 2 weeks old. Vesper found her with a Death's Head grubfawn, talking animatedly about different types of flowers, and the fawn was answering her back. As she's aged, her talent has become stronger and now she can not only communicate with all beasts but shapeshift for a short time into most sentient species, making her an ideal ambassador for the neighbouring Beastclans.
Sig has also learnt how to pull her consciousness out of her body and uses this to communicate with other witches in in what Tāne has dubbed 'the spirit realm', as well as travel unnoticed between lands. Most neighboring clans tolerate her passing through, as very few see a bumbling, muttering blind woman as a threat, but being able to travel through more dangerous areas unseen is paramount to her job at times.
Whenever a new witch finds or joins the clan, Sig teaches them how to find and harness their magical talent, using any elemental energy they might have.
