Writing
Above the ridgeback lay sets of intertwining, black branches. The fingers of the deceased greenery crossed like fingers between each other, creating an eerie canopy. The ground, littered with the bones of unfortunate rodents and dried leaves and fungus-infested logs, was muddy and wet with recent rainfall, though it seemed the water failed in their mission to heal the already-dead trees. The ridgeback herself seemed to melt into ground, due to her mix of colors that seemed perfect for the current setting of the plague lands. Though, current is an odd word. After all, they always seem as dreary as the day before and the day after.
However, an odd mix of colors cuts the air, appearing as quick as a flash in front of the ridgeback. The being’s form seemed to shutter into existence as if it traveled as light, however the end result was what Roscheta deemed anti-climactic. A scrawny pearlcatcher, at least compared to the utterly massive dragon before him, clumsily stumbled into clear vision, his mane flung into several different directions, the wildness of each strand reflecting the nature of their owner. After adjusting himself to reality once more, Arcuit, the new pearlcatcher, dipped his head in respect, as it was a gesture flung about the clan in the presence of “the witch” as the locals in general deeemd her. Of course, she took no emotion to the title, for she was constantly stoic. Her gargantuan size was threatening enough, but with her stone cold harshness stacked atop it? Petrifying. Arcuit was well aware of this aura about the dragon, and he planned to use it strategically. So, he proceeded to explain what we needed from her. “Your magic,” he started. “I’m in desperate need of your magic and skill with rot. I have a mission into the lightning farm-” |
